One of my biggest pet peeves with the first movie and them writing out Madge. Because district 12 is poor nobody would just let you have anything. Katniss isn’t the type of person to be eyeballing shiny unnecessary things in The Seam. And her friendship with Madge is how Katniss initially learns about the other districts uprisings. It all just makes more sense and in the books gives her pin a lot more meaning.

District 2 were in bronze, They wouldnt waste gold on tributes like that. What Effie did was a unique act of affection towards her tributes.
Was a sign that there was more to her. That she was starting to understand things more

One cool detail from the books is that Cinna dressed Katniss in lots of pastels, frills, lace and bows during her victory tour, as a way to play up her innocence

as someone who works with dogs, the thing that really shows how well off the society is in the capital compared to the lower districts, was the dogs. the fact that they are able to have people who groom dogs when some districts would use dogs as food to survive. i love creative grooming, but i understand how wild it would look to some people

i would unironically wear anything that effie wears

The movie didn't mention this, but the dress Katniss wore right after her first victory was intended to make her look innocent. Though it also had modifications to make her breasts bigger, because Capital doctors wanted to do surgery on her to make her look more attractive, and Haymitch and likely Cinna had to adamantly fight against that. Since she was barely conscious and a minor, and probably would've been trafficked if not for Peeta, that detail turned my stomach.

Tigris was in her mid 80s by Mockingjay. She was older than Snow

I had to write a paper on the 1930s for my fashion class. This movies costume reminded me of the 1930s how the poor had wear toned downed colors and fabrics like cotton. While the rich and upper class worn the more elegant looks of the 1930s Hollywood era.

I actually grew up less than 15 minutes away from the place where they filmed district 12.  Rode by it every time I went to school as a kid because it was on our bus route. I also had several middle school friends who were extras in the reaping scene!  It's a little time capsule for when it anytime I watch any hunger games again. That town with all the matching houses was a hosiery Mill Town. I was dying when you said "North Carolina dystopia".

It's called The Seam because it's a coal mining district... Coal seam 💁🏽‍♂️ The Seam 🤷🏽‍♂️

2:02 the dresses remind me of the fact that during the depression era, flour factories found out that mothers who didn't have a dime to their name turned old flour bags into dresses for their daughters, so they started packaging their flour into cotton bags with floral patterns on it, so that children would all have pretty dresses 👗

An interesting thought I had on the style of both Plutarch and Cinna—when the style of everyone in the capital is incredibly vibrant and over the top, displaying a more muted and toned down look not only makes you stand out in contrast to the norm, but it appears to be an act of defiance and rebellion as it is going against everything the capital represents visually.

I hope they show all of the 48 tributes in the upcoming 50th hunger games

24:11 The flowers are a reference to Rue! Those outfits are their way of honouring her memory and subtly showing they support the rebellion that Rue’s death inspired in district 11

it’s so funny how just a few months after this video, a book came out that tells us Katniss’ mom’s name 😂

21:58 District Six has so many options for costumes! Dresses in a pattern of traffic signs. Pants made of tire rubber. Sexy train conductor or pilot uniforms. Cover an outfit in stop lights! They don't have to be overlooked. So sad.

That’s how it was in Versailles. Aristocracy didn’t work, was bored and craved entertainment. So looks and balls were everything. Crazy wigs, perfume, fashion, constant checking out each other and judging… and this is at the time when central power became stronger than before, this was the era of absolute monarchy.

I think the way Effie dressed in the first movie compared to the others was to show her love for her tributes grow the more she cared for them the more she toned down her looks .. like she was disconnecting from the capital

"Halo" is what the medical device is called. It's not just the Capitol fashion world giving it a pretty name. It's the actual medical name given to that type of brace. The "halo" piece is screwed into the skull.
