The Truth About High-Stakes Private Poker Games
Have you ever walked through a casino poker room and noticed a high-energy game with massive stakes, only to find out it's completely closed to the public? In this video, I break down the fascinating and often misunderstood world of private poker games. Based on my own experiences climbing the cash game ladder in Las Vegas, I explain how these exclusive games operate and how they evolved from shady underground rounder setups to host-controlled casino tables. We will dive into the pivotal Las Vegas rule changes around 2015 that allowed game runners to dictate exactly who gets to play. You will learn the cutthroat business behind the game: why hosts fiercely protect their VIPs, how they build line-ups, and why some of the absolute best poker professionals in the world are explicitly banned from taking a seat. Finally, we'll explore whether an unknown player can still get into these games, and what this shift means for the traditional, skill-based "purity" of the poker grind.

A lot of the poker game today flows directly from Black Friday without the huge online players there is no more hundred million dollar promotions getting a steady stream of losing recs to cycle through the eco system. Online provided that through gigantic revenue turned into huge marketing campaigns including tv shows ads etc.
The whole economy has had to adapt and now the game is not having hundreds of thousands of minnows but a few huge Billionare whales.
That means the job of a poker pro changed/adapted instead of winning money of minnows online or at live poker it is about courting and snoozing a few huge whales to come to your private game and dust off hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars
The poker pro is now a VIP concierge who must Taylor to the whims and demands of Billionares (drinks/food/rooms/women/drugs etc) for the fee of being able to win the billionaires money at the poker table
I can see how the current ecosystem can be unappealing to you and many pros.
I would never take an invitation from people I don't know and I really prefer to play in a casino if it's for money and winning. And I do not want to know everybody at the table. No, for me private games are not necessary but I don't mind other people's preferences.
At the very least there is more randomness with where you are seated in a tournament, a lower chance for collusion than a private game, and you don’t have to worry about giving action to be invited back.
