In this episode, we're at Agbogbloshie Market in Accra, Ghana. Located near the center of the capital in the Greater Accra Region, Agbogbloshie sits along the Korle Lagoon and the Odaw River, right next to the informal settlement of Old Fadama. It's a busy commercial and industrial district, famous for its local food market and, historically, its e-waste recycling area.
Trading goes on from Monday through Saturday, but Mondays and Thursdays are the best days for the freshest foodstuff. That's when farmers and traders bring in new goods straight from rural villages, so you get the highest influx of fresh produce.
Agbogbloshie is also in the news. President John Dramani Mahama recently launched a waste evacuation exercise.
