I didmy reversal last year...
Everything was ok....no problem..

I'm having my reversal today 2024 March 6th

I needed this video so much!
My husband goes in for reversal surgery on August 24th and I am terrified, mostly because what led to his colostomy was incredibly traumatic. He was hospitalized for 35 days before they had no choice but to operate. He spent a total of 41 days in a hospital almost two hours away from where we live.
He is so excited about his reversal surgery, but we have no idea what to expect despite asking his surgeon so many questions and getting very few answers.
I felt like I was living this with you.
I can't thank you enough for being so open and honest and hope you're doing well.
Thank you for the glimmer of hope I needed for both of us. Sincerely. <3

I had emergency colostomy surgery the same weekend you got your reversal. Congratulations to you and prayers for your continued recovery!

I decided not to have the reversal; I'm happy and healthy with the colostomy; it is my friend.  I'm 5 1/2 year cancer free now.  All the best to you, and everyone going for the reversal.

The anxiety leading up to the first bowel movement for me was bad. I waited 4 months for my reversal following the gastro perforation..and 1 week after the rev surgery to get the bowel movment. Im 2 weeks post op..what a journey

Sharing my colon resection surgery on Sept 6, 2022.  I’ve had acute diverticulitis for about 4 year’s and this year I decided I’ve had enough.  So many antibiotics not completely healing my body.  Diverticulitis runs in my family and my mother and two sister’s had resections.  My mother died post stoma resection surgery from a blood clot.  I was so scared of having a bag and so thankful my dr worked longer on me to make sure he could get all the inflammation out.  My surgery lasted 6 hours.  I had 18” of colon removed that included all the sigmoid colon.  My surgeon ordered pre-surgery Ensure drinks twice daily starting five days before surgery.  I also drank one two hours before I had to arrive at the hospital.  My surgeon believes in taking out the entire sigmoid colon so you do not have anymore diverticulitis in that area.  My two sister’s had diverticulitis this past July.  They both had about 7” of part of their sigmoid colon removed.  I am 5 weeks out and I’m starting to feel so much better.  My dr had planned on giving me a bag prior to surgery (glad he did not tell me).  He based his decision on how my ct scans looked from the last two ER visits. He removed about a half inch of my rectum and he said after he removed the inflammation from there he decided that I looked good enough to resection so I did not have to have a bag. I am so thankful that your channel popped up and I am glad you are doing well and you have this behind you.

I'm scheduled for a reversal this coming June.  I'm excited but also scared.  I pray that it all goes well.  Thank you for your posting; it really helps.  Keep strong.

Okay just found your channel and I'm gonna dive into it, I'm only a few minutes in but like your style already... my husband had a colon rupture last month and has a stoma now, looking at a reversal in a couple of months and I been looking fir a channel just like this to give me insight on whats to come. Thank you for being so open,it really helps people like me.

Thank you for this video. I had my bag put on due to emergency surgery in August. I am hoping for reversal in February. No one tells you anything!  The hospital that I was in, would not administer pain meds in a timely basis. The nursing staff was not the best. I totally agree with you on the pain issue. And the food! It was horrendous! I could not eat the entire time I was in the hospital which was 30 days!!!! These doctors could not or would not understand this. Nothing in, nothing out! I had to threaten to get my (nonexistent) lawyers if they did not let me out! Now, I am getting a colonoscopy because they want to see what is going on. I hope to have reversal surgery soon. You have given me a clearer picture of what to expect. So, thank you! I will be replaying your video before I have this procedure.

This is a year old, and I hope you are feeling well and life is being kind to you.

I’m one week past my reversal .  I had sooooo much pain! They didn’t offer me an epidural and the dilaudin sp . Gave me a migraine! Horrible! I’m home now, still have pain first thing in the morning, taking hydrocodone. My stoma was inverted and very small so no gaping holes to have to pack. NO MORE DIVERTICULITIS!  Doing good now

I got my colostomy April 1st. I'm having a hard time still waiting for my medical needs with bags.. I had to get by on free samples I can't wait for my reversal I'm sooo really scared. Your a trooper God bless you
