That's why when you have speed like that you use it. At least with Deion, Barry was smart enough to use him on offense, special teams, and on defense. When Tony Dorsett came into the NFL and they knew if they were going to win a Super Bowl they had to have speed and gave Seattle everything they wanted for Dorsett and it worked out.
I always say that Bobby Hayes is the fastest to ever play in the NFL because he was only 21 years old during the Olympics and he said that he got even faster while playing wide receiver for the Cowboys and sprinters typically don't peak until their mid 20s. Legend
As a young kid in the 60's, Bob Hayes (22) was my hero, I wanted to be just like him, As a kid in that era we didn't think about color, Great professional Sports Players. I've seen some of the greatest people in time on earth. Deion Sanders was another hero of mine, He could play Offense, Defence and Special Teams, Dallas was America team back then..
"Speed Incorporated" was the NFL Film's title for the Cowboys' 1966 season, calling them the fastest team in the league. It's a tradition that's continued through today. Good list. Mel Renfro and Mike Gaechter deserve a mention, as two of the four world record setting Oregon relay team members, both Dallas stalwarts for many years. The franchise has all the types of speed covered: top, quickness, acceleration, maneuverability, track, and game. Even their "non burner" positions have featured speed: great running QBs, LBs that fly sideline to sideline, 300+ O-linemen who sprint down opponents, and agile DTs.
Figured it had to be Hayes at the top what a legend! I started too late to see him play at his peak, 1974 was my first year, but who else totally changed defenses with the zones brought in to try to stop him? Well done!
THE DALLAS COWBOYS ARE AWESOME. We definitely had some speedsters . Bob Hayes is on a different level!!! πππππππππβ€οΈβ€οΈπ€π€
Growing up I remember going to three Cowboys games, but one of those games was when Alexander Wright made his 109 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The PA announcer made an announcement following the score that Wright broke the Cowboys record for the longest kickoff return. Thats probably the most memorable moment I personally experienced at a Cowboys game.
