If men approach women they think men are creepy
If women approach men they think it is a prank or a set up

That's what got me into the gym

I love how most modern dating advice is basically "Don't be a genuine human being"

My grandmother saw my grandad crossing the street and walked over, gave him her address and said "be here at six pm Friday, you're taking me to dinner." Then left. He picked her up at 6 and they were married until death.

Last date I went on with a girl had a really awkward moment while we were being seated at a restaurant. I took my fedora off and started to panic when I realized I didn't have any place to set it. When I looked up, she was sat there smiling and holding out the most beautiful hat box I had ever seen. It was an absolutely perfect date... and then I woke up.

My fiancée told me the first time I talked to her she thought I was out of her league and her friends tried to convince her to cancel our first date plans. I'm glad every day that she didn't listen to them. Sometimes it feels like the biggest obstacle to women is other women.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand they just removed the "Women must make the first move" part of Bumble because and I quote: "Women do not want the burden and responsibility of making the first move."

"You'll die young if you remain single."
I'm sorry, is that a threat?

If a woman is crying and I don't know why I'm immediately leaving the area so it doesn't look like I did something to her. I'm not getting trapped lol

The authors notes were essentially "you lonely? Good! You want to be lonely because I am and I'm happy! Can't you tell I'm happy?! Don't go near people. Ever. Die alone so you know you achieved your true girl boss life!"
How bitter can one person be?!

I think the weird widower focus from back then comes from the fact that no "good man" would have not been married by their 30s back then.
There was basically no chance of finding an unmarried man who was considered good husband material in certain age brackets.
Then there were higher mortality rates and barely existing divorce rates as well.
So widowers were basically the most common "good husband material who are just single due to bad luck" of the 50s.

Sadly, social media, which was supposed to bring us together, has instead made us even more isolated. Loneliness is rampant in both sexes which is sad.

7%er here, I had a very particular kind of guy I wanted to be with, searched unsuccessfully for a year, gave up, encouraged to try one last time, found a guy's profile that matched exactly what I was looking for, and made the first move, turns out he had spent years looking for a girl just like me, im glad I made the first move

"I feel very protected when I'm with you" sounds better than the "could you walk me home, you're the scariest looking person I know" I got

Married 21 years to the man I approached. I’d been rejected by others I’d approached, but didn’t much care. I’m a bit of a fatalist: if he rejects me, it’s good to find out at the attraction stage rather than the love stage.

My grandma, an excellent rollar skater, got my grandpa’s attention by purposefully falling in front of him at the local rink. He confessed later that he knew it was a ploy and was super happy about it.
