Have been bashing the Maxx for over 2 years now. One thing to watch out for on the Maxx: the front steering block/knuckle tends to pop out of the pin that goes through the arm. Once it starts happening, it tends to keep happening repeatedly, no matter how much you reseat it. The easiest permanent fix is to replace the stock plastic steering knuckles with aluminum ones. It’s a pretty common issue, so upgrading them early can save you a lot of frustration! It's the only upgrade I have done on the Maxx besides changing the shock oils, and the car drives like a dream.

Happy bashing!!

Nice video,. I just bought a used wide Max for 400 bucks it was in good shape with lower battery packs  BIT not maintained. First replacement you want to do is the fans... they suck.. they will burn your ESC up. Go by 35 mm rocket fans replace ESC and motor fan. Replaced all the bearings/some seozed.. change the shock oil, , 70 in the front 80 in the back, Replace that kush drive/spur gear to mod1  50 tooth.. (Earlier you're saying how quiet it was, it's because of the plastic Kush/spir gear). Bought a servo adapter to put my 55 Oz happyPark brushless servo in. Replaced front and rear skip plates $9.39. I know Traxxas uses monkey metal so went ahead replaced the center, front and rear diffs by nmrc all parts for 100.00 (perfect fir/mesh.. hot racing aluminum Bell crank. $43..00.. hobby Park aluminum  horn with aluminum steering during linkage. $25... Suggest placing your lower shock mounts to the outer holes, will lower it however with the firmer suspension it works flawless and doesn't traction roll as much. Now this car drives like a real car not a toy!!.. all total about $300  + the 404 the unit.. so essentially like new was upgrades total price of door 700...not to shabby!

I have the 40th anniversary Maxx and love it ! I do have aluminum c hubs , rear axle carrier , suspension pin holder , gear cover and chassis brace . 70wt shock oil f/r , metal 23/50 gearing and Sledge rear springs for the rear shocks . Your servo will be fine , it's an Xmaxx servo lol . Awesome bash video 💯

Always wondered about it's size you can see how big it is when you pick it up. I don't want something small.

Tip do NOT  run the sledgehammers on concrete the tires will get ruined I’ve ran mine on my maxx for a long time and they just get ate up also had them on my xmaxx and got ate up so I stopped running on the street they are amazing tires for off road tho

This is a great RC car. In my opinion, it’s like a four ass outcast, maybe better. I think this one only needs a couple things aftermarket .

I think the new maxxes come with belted tires. It will say belted on the sidewall if they are.

To each their own thats whats great about the hobby, im a basher myself both electric and nitro, im not a full send it 30 feet in the air basher , and although even being a more practical basher mainly hard ground pounding and small jumps human error happens and they gonna break. But mine considerably less and i always preach preventive maintenance which is all fun part of the hobby for me, i have the xmaxx and wide maxx like u have here and fun for days, i could never get into crawling its so boring to me 😂 also have the mini xrt, minimaxx, slash 4x4 vxl, revo 3.3, hpi savage xl, stampede, summit, xrt, arrma talion exb, rustler nitro, corally punisher xd, t-maxx 3.3 , jato 3.3 so lots of fun!

You gotta go at least a mil center diff to get a wheelie ?m

Somehow already subbed I liked the video. I started with the rustler VXL and had infinite drivetrain issues too.

The only Traxxas I would get xmaxx

just bought my first x-maxx all I know is when you land don't give it any throttle or else you'll strip the gears not sure about break tho

That is the inherent issue with bashers. They carry a high financial overhead and are prone to premature component failure. That exact reason is why I transitioned to crawling.
My built Apex 18 has close to $600 into it, including the RTR purchase, and I am about to allocate another hundred toward a set of metal planet axles. Combined with my Scout II build, I have roughly a thousand wrapped up in both platforms.
The return on investment is night and day—breakages are practically non-existent, and technical trail and rock running deliver the same adrenaline as bashing while dramatically increasing component longevity. I simply cannot justify constantly bleeding money on basher repairs. My next platform will be a dedicated micro drift setup.
A TRX-4M is a fantastic entry point if you want to switch disciplines. Weight bias, center of gravity, and suspension geometry dictate your articulation limits. There is a tremendous amount of mechanical science involved, rather than just raw speed followed by breakage.

Absolutely hate my xmax, had it on market place and sold it within having it for 2 months.

So, you bjt a traxxas buggy and had systemtemic drivetrain issues, so now you go and purchase a Maxx? Well, at least you'll get some views 😂😂😂.
