The relationship of the McGill brothers was something right out of a Greek tragedy

"I'll badger him"

Did he just say that he will call one of the best hitman West of Missisipi

For someone who thinks the ‘law is sacred’, he certainly showcases a devious way of thinking and tends to break the law when it suits him.  Chuck is the textbook definition of hypocrisy.

Dude destroyed all bridges he had with everyone around him letting his mental illness eventually take hold of him.

This should have included the confrontation between Chuck and Howard where Howard calls him out on his selfishness and buys him out with his own money to save HHM. It was losing HHM that was the last straw for Chuck as he had officially burned all his bridges and pretty much had no reason to live or get better for.

Probably one of the best shows of all time

When Kim asked Howard who hired him you can see exactly how he must think something like "Great question." He respected Kim

Chuck was a man who grew up being second favorite to his rule breaking, manipulative, thief of a younger brother. It's what probably pushed him into a law degree. He couldn't bear to see his brother, who he was always sidelined by, even though he never did anything to deserve it, succeed and twist what he fell in love with. It broke him. Playing by the rules, working hard, and doing what he thought was right still made him end up divorced and once again sidelined by his brother doing whatever he wanted. Chuck wasn't an antagonist to Jimmy. He was a tragic character. Sort of like a more put together version of Michael Douglass in Falling down.

We were manipulated to hate Chuck.  We were manipulated to cheer for Jimmy.  Every single accusation and prediction Chuck made was 100% true.  Chuck was the good guy in this dynamic.  He was not without blame, he could have done better, by jimmy, but Jimmy was always going to go where he went.

When you really think about it-- Jimmy became Saul Goodman all because his brother, Chuck committed a felony:

Using Jimmy's phone without his consent.

Bob Odenkirk's acting in this scene is phenomenal. The break in his voice when he says "I thought you were proud of me" is heartbreaking. These two together were so good.

I always wonder what might have been, if Chuck had embraced Jimmy after passing the bar.  Instead he sabotaged Jimmy at every turn until Jimmy decided to return the favor.

Chucks fault was not in burying his furies, but in thinking they would accept such a fate

I don't know if people know this, but that courtroom scene is identical to a Humphrey Bogart performance in The Caine Mutiny.  Both of these scenes are a masterclass in acting. Yes, I just compared Michael McKeon to Humphrey Bogart.  Kudos to Michael McKeon.

Chuck was genuinely such an ass without being an ass. He had every reason to dislike his brother and his antics but this show and the writing makes you sneer at him. Genuinely a great character but imo, he was a bitch and took the easy way out.

It is so astounding to me the fact that Chuck was so right and so wrong at the same time. The relationship between him and Jimmy is so specific, so rich, i cant even begin to understand how someone can write this.  Most emmy stolen show of all time

In a way—with the benefit of hindsight—Chuck’s words are the prophecy of a man who is right, but for the wrong reasons. It is sad to think that if Chuck’s envy and jealousy hadn’t driven him to try to sabotage his brother—and if, instead, they had complemented each other—not only their lives but the lives of many others would have turned out differently.

Needed the seen where jimmy gossips chucks condition to the insurance agent

but if the battery wasn’t plugged into anything/not drawing current..?

“University of American Samoa… an online course?!?!”  These writers are so funny and so damn good!  😂
