This is why I don’t spend more than 2.4 seconds looking at the scenery.

On some illuminate city biomes, you can literally walk on corpses of super earth citizens.

“There’s nothing inherently scary about the Terminids themselves.”
Ah yes the complete puppy dog expression of a charger ripping a building in half really does invoke relaxing feelings in people I’m sure.

Congratulations! You have been promoted to wall inspector...

"This giant galactic war that Super Earth has started with these three factions.."
I've forwarded this to my democracy officer.

Fun fact: when fighting bugs you spill oil, when fighting bots you spill blood

For the first one, I think it's even more messed up than that. You can see that oil barrels were placed near the group of bodies, spilled and lit up to burn them. Given that such displays also appear on Terminid maps and that that the insects would simply eat the bodies instead of burning them, I think it's safe to say the enemies weren't the ones to set them on fire. Given the presence of SEAF corpses around, I reckon they were ordered to burn the bodies to make sure they wouldn't be consumed or used by the enemies.
Another thing to note is how one burnt body is out of the pile, suggesting one of the citizens was still alive when they started the fire and they tried to crawl out. Grim.

When the illuminate first got added, i did a quick trivial mission to check them out (i needed to get a train that afternoon). Walking through a broken wall of an empty, lifeless colony in the night, looking down the street and seeing the silhouette of a single shambling voteless was genuinly unsettling

Id also like to point out the "lake of skulls" which is located at the watery pits at the base of shriker nests.

Also, Correction. These Automatons are NOT the Cyborgs.
A spaceship departed from the planet Cyberstan (the prison of the indentured Cyborgs) in the year 2180, approximately 4 years prior to the initial Automaton attack. In decrypted Bot transmissions, it is referred to as their seed or origin. During a single cybersecurity breach, it was further revealed in a singular message, "We, the collective from Cyberstan, unanimously assert our independence from Super Earth. We have the right to defend our home from the brainwashed Helldivers. Our children, the Automaton will not suffer as we have under the oppression of Super Earth!"

I cant believe youve found living larvae on a bot world and got footage of it thats wild

It is theorized that based on the automatons “destroy bio-fuel processor” sub-objective, the bots use human blood and viscera as fuel evidenced by the red tubing seen on almost every automaton unit.

Also, the bugs are not innocent. Near most abandoned seaf outposts, colonial structures, and bug nests on bug missions, there will usually be piles and piles of human skeletons.
As well for the illuminate, monolith objectives that spawn on a lower ground section will have mountains of dead voteless, eluding to them possibly using voteless in mass death rituals.

This game is so metal dude and I love it

What makes the horror aspect even better is the fact that we are the cause of some of them. The illuminate created the voteless to replace their numbers after we massacred them. The bots use us as fuel in the bio processors after we captured the cyborgs. Its little bits that really sell the idea that we  caused these problems, and now we're reaping the cosequences

This game made me realize that while super earth is bad, the other factions are indeed worse

10:54 To clarify, E-710 is not the blood of the terminids, but it is instead the byproduct of terminids decomposing, much like how long dead animals turn into fossil fuels in real life.

I'm not surprised you did not mention the interloper/stingray from the Illuminate front, but I feel the fact it can entirely erase your body from existence after dying to it's ammunitions is terrifying

Fun fact: Automaton Commissars will occasionally shoot themselves when on fire or in toxic gas.

This game is coated in such a layer of satire, but if you really look at it is DARK. Looking at your single individual helldiver, thrown into combat only to meet a brutal end with in seconds. I once had a glitch where my helldivers after getting unceremonious sleep blown apart by a bunker turret while storming a fortress. My camera glitched and instead of cutting to another play the camera just left on his body. Reinforcements were out so I had nothing to look at except for my fallen soldiers corpse. I thought about him. A mere minute ago he was in his first hellpod heading down to some planet he never even heard of. Was brutally killed before he could even kill a single enemy. His family is now mourning him.
I love when this game gets dark. March of the hell divers is an amazing song with the lyrics: dive into martyrdom, make your parents oh so proud. And I’m just like Jesus. Very good video.

Sooo the Automatons…

-Capture and imprison humans in cages

-Treat humans like mindless animals

-And then use their bio-processors to turn us into fuel?

Strange…where have we heard that before

24:06 Meridia was originally a planet under Super Earth territory, but it was eventually taken over by the Terminids when the Gloom first began to spread. Super Earth later discovered a way to slow the spread by installing insecticide towers on Meridia. For a while, it was believed these towers worked, but it quickly became clear they didn’t. Instead, they unintentionally boosted the Terminids terraforming capabilities, turning Meridia into a massive super colony. Because of this, Super Earth basically said “forget it” and pumped the planet with Dark Fluid, which was believed to collapse Meridia into a black hole. Later, during the Omens of Tyranny arc, Meridia suddenly began moving toward Super Earth, destroying any nearby planets in its path. The Helldivers eventually managed to stop it about two sectors away from Super Earth. However, a few weeks later, multiple Illuminate ships and fleets emerged from Meridia. It turned out that Meridia wasn’t a black hole at all it had become a wormhole controlled by the Illuminate. The Illuminate then began advancing toward Super Earth, glassing any planet in their way, and eventually reached Super Earth itself.”
