The Beosound Theatre is an incredibly capable system on its own - but what happens when you start adding dedicated Beolab speakers?
In this video, Chris explores our recommended speaker pairings for expanding the Theatre, starting with the Beolab 8 and working our way through the Beolab 28 and all the way up to the Beolab 50.
We look at what each pairing brings to the system, how the Theatre adapts as you introduce more capable speakers, and where we think the sweet spots are depending on your room, listening habits and budget.
We chose to start with the Beolab 8 rather than products such as the Beosound Level or Beosound A5. While these can be incorporated into a Theatre setup, we believe the Beolab 8 is where the performance and capability really begin to complement what the Theatre itself can deliver.

I have two sets of systems and would like to share a few of my thoughts:
1. Theatre + Lab 8s (Front / Rear)
2. Theatre + Lab 9s (Front / Rear) + Lab 4000s (Rear Surround)
For some reason, both systems actually sound better to me with spatial calibration turned off. Low-end performance sounds better on lively, rhythmic music, movies feel much more grand and impactful, and dialogue coming from the Theatre has more dimension. The rear surrounds are especially more noticeable—when calibration is turned on, I can barely tell the pair of Lab 4000s in the back is doing anything.
Also, after a system reboot or firmware update, there are times when the audio experience changes quite significantly, particularly in terms of dynamic range and overall volume level.
These are a few observations from my two years of using them. Thank you!

Do you change some of those parameters when you add speakers?
and what do you do about the bass parameters on your setup? Is it just a standard or do you change some of those values?

The A5, Level, Emerge, Beosound 2 etc can absolutely be used with the Theatre, but for us, the Beolab 8 is where the performance, capability and mounting flexibility really start to compliment what the Theatre itself can deliver.
