Almost all the characters at the start were main characters in seasons 1-2. They were all killed off like that because Hasbro stopped the toys they were based on to bring in new ones.

Back then they didnt realise just how loved Optimus was.  His death was the very thing that traumatised millions of kids

15:15 I cried the first time I watched this scene after Cullen died.  Sobbed like a baby while wearing my Optimus pjs, cuddling my Optimus toy, and drinking, by then, coffee flavored vodka out of my Optimus mug.

RIP Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime. Till all are one
🥺🥺🥺🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

The Touch Imprinting: When Optimus Prime was dying, Hot Rod caught the Matrix first, causing it to flash and imprint on him, foreshadowing that Hot Rod was the actual chosen successor

8:28 The score was done by Vince Dicola, awesome synth sounds. The soundtrack to this movie is epic.

Peter Cullen's passing REALLY hit me! No lie, I wept 😪
Spooky coincidence though; Peter passed away 26/08, the scene whereOptimus' eyes flicker and fade happened at 26:08

Glad to see Transformers on this channel!

Something to consider: In the 80s there was deregulation regarding advertising to children. That's why there was a sudden boom in content that decade that has persisted since. Toy companies begin creating cartoons not as entertainment, but as sophisticated commercials to help sell product.

This movie was an extension of that strategy. I mention that to say this; more effort and care was placed into this movie, this commercial, than most films happening today.

I WATCHED THIS A FEW WEEKS AGO IT WAS AWESOME ENJOY THE MOVIE CORTEZ AND RIP TO PETER CULLEN😃🙏

This could just be me, but I feel like this movie needs more Soundwave

There is so much theology now behind Transformers that have developed over the decades. Unicron is obviously the stand in for a demonic force. Cybertron, the home world of the Transformers (or Cybertronians, as they are known natively) were created by their god, Primus. The planet itself IS Primus.

In the G1 comics, Unicron and Primus are twin deities, born from a previous universe. Unicron totally devoured that universe out of existance. There was then a void, until our universe came into existence. There is another thing they share, a psychic link. In order to preserve this exitance, Primus tricked his brother into a solid form, by himself merging with an asteroid, turning himself into a planet, forcing Unicron to do the same. Unicron developed his form into the devouring planet, then learnt to transform himself into a robotic version of his former self. Primus became the planet, and first created the 13 Primes, Cybertronians of different types that created the other transformers of all the different subgroups. Because Unicron can now transform, Primus encoded that ability into his creations. And thus, transformers became what they are today.

There is a conflicting story of the creation of the Transformers. In the cartoon, many millennia ago, the Quintessons created the Transformers on Cybertron, as two types, the workers, and security robots. They were mindless automatons, but were programmed with AI. Eventually they became sentient. The workers became the Autobots, the military became the Decepticons.

There have been ways of blending these conflicting sagas over the decades. Transformers is way more that just the toys that started the franchise, it is literally More than meets the eye.

This was Orson Wells last role passed during post production.  He was famous for War of the Worlds radio show in the 30s. He called it That Damn Robot Movie.

11:40 Toei Animation at its finest.

Wow! youre assessment of the movie's individual happenings was great! Well done, for having never seen the season 1 episodes before you were pretty spot-on. Excellent dialogue. I've seen other reviews that were just watching it and completely not knowing what was going on lol. I saw this in the theater in '87 when I was 11. To date.. the best movie experience ive ever had! Especially after the build up of being floored by the pre-seasons leading up to the movie. At that age, it was almost like being in the movie. ... Great job sir!  o7

Neat fact the actor for Blurr did micro machine commercials then and holds Guinness record for fastest speech while being understood

Optimus Prime was like a dad to all of us 80s kids.

Also the main theme song THE TOUCH was originally written for Stallone movie COBRA

Just remember to Hasbro this was just the changeover from one set of characters to new generation of toys to buy. They didn't realize just how attached to the characters till afterwards and this even changed GO Joe the movie where thwy only wounded Duke instead of killed him

And Galvatron was voiced by Leonard Nimoy who played Spock in Star Trek original and Next Generation

11:50 the movie is basically an anime.  It was animated by Toei .  They do shows like One Piece and Dragon Ball, to name their two most iconic.
