😮 Watch me play horror games! https://youtu.be/Chb3D7COOC0 😮

Mercy
Every thing you think a healer should be.

Medic
Every thing you think a healer shouldn’t be.

You know the promo material is good when a portion of the fanbase doesn’t even play the game and are just lore buffs

The Meet the Team videos are iconic. You get so much character in these 2 minute videos that most companies only HOPE to get. It's amazing.

Rip rick may. may he rest in peace.

Not sure if this was already pointed out but in the Meet the Sandvich, instead of Copyright LOLOLOL, its Copyright OMNOMNOM

The games actually 16 years old. God, it has withstood the test of time.

You could say Blu mercs are kinda non-canon, Red Spy is Red Scout's father and the Red team are kinda the main protagonists lore-wise, they fight mostly unnamed mercs in the comics etc. Also fun fact, in every Meet The Team short, a Blu soldier dies

It's cool watching this guy speedrun years of the authentic TF2 experience, from the games to the vids.

Best part is that this is only the tip of the Iceberg. The actual lore is frikin nuts. I'll give two examples:

- No stairs existed until they were invented by US president Abraham Lincoln in 1857 to solve the problem of only being able to go up a floor by rocket jumping.

- The reason Demoman has one eye is because when he was seven his parents sent him out to get a job when he was seven, he eventually ended up working for the wizard Merasmus (now Soldier's roommate and #1 Sir Tom Jones fanboy) cleaning his library and instructed to not read his Bombanomicon. The Bombanomicon then spoke to the young Demo convincing him to read him, where upon doing so caused it to be haunted. After passing out from the curse he woke to find the Wizard and his castle to have vanished. Years later when joining the mercs, the Medic gave him a new left eye but due to the haunted socket, every Halloween it bursts out and transforms into a spooky monster the Team must fight using Merasmus's magic, hence the Halloween events.

Fun fact I only just realized: In 'Meet the Heavy', he fires his minigun for 12 seconds, effectively spending the mentioned $400,000 worth of ammo.

Heavy: When he said that he had yet to find someone who can outsmart bullet, this was before the Meet the Medic vid was released. This is why, at the end of his video, Heavy is yelling "Waaaah! Waaaah! Cry some more!" Up until the Medic's video came out, Heavy never really respected anyone, usually referring to most everyone else as babies. "They are sending me BABIES!" & "My team are all BABIES!" is pretty common for him to say. However, Heavy has a deep respect for Medic since his video came out because the Medic did manage to outsmart bullet (rocket, too!).
Heavy's not just a big, dumb lug though...He has a PhD in Russian Literature. He's normally a calm, collected, introspective kind of guy, until you either cross him or threaten the Medic. He may sound like a big dumb lug only because he doesn't see a need to fully master the English language.

Sandvich: The dialogue in this video is almost entirely improvised by the voice actors involved; in the recording studio, the voice actors were told by Valve some basic direction that the video should  go but there was no actual script finished yet.
On another point, when you see the Meet the Medic video, doesn't it seem as if that severed Spy's head shares the exact point-of-view as the position of the camera in this video? Yeah, there is also that.

Sniper: As adillusioneddork618 pointed out, the backstory lore of TF2 is even crazier than the game itself...Indeed, the game is merely an off-shoot of how nuts the TF2 world & universe are. One minor example is that Sniper is not really Australian...He was raised by foster parents in Australia because his real parents in New Zealand foresaw the the of the world & sent their son off in a rocket to save him. However the rocket was faulty & only made it as far as Australia. After which, New Zealand sunk into the sea, even though the rest of the world was okay (relatively speaking). This is why Sniper isn't like all native-born Australians, who always grow up into literal supers, physically, intellectually, & live with a futuristic society consisting of the highest tech in the known world. You know, Saxton Hale is normal for Australia. This is why Sniper doesn't physically resemble anyone that's native born in Australia.
Oh yeah, those jars Sniper fills up with yellow liquid?...Inn a whole different series of videos known as "Meet the Items," this one in particular is a thrown weapon known as the Jarate. Check it out.

Engineer: Unarguably the smartest man on the team, with 11 PhD's under his belt. The creativity he shows for inventing & building things could best be described as "thinking outside of the box," as some of his inventions apparently come from "way out of left field."

Scout: Anyone who tries to say that a 33% advantage in speed is not really all that appreciable, you can see in Lazy Purple's How It Feels To Play Scout video that "lookincuteinmyjammies" demonstrates that the Scout Class essentially has no skill cap. All that aside, when Scout pokes his finger at the camera, you might notice that he leaves a smudge on the camera lens. Also, when you pointed out that someone at the beginning of the video was juggling, that was Soldier juggling hand grenades; yes, that's just how he is.

Demoman: When he's being censored during his dialogue, it's not because he's cursing...It's because he's revealing true info about the Loch Ness Monster & it's the government that doesn't want the public to know it.
According to background lore, Demo doesn't eat food like normal people; he subsists entirely on alcohol. This is because he spent some time as a captive & without a steady source of the hooch, his body started feeding on itself to the point where his bone marrow became capable of producing alcohol, directly into his bloodstream. When his captives gave him actual food he became terribly sick because his stomach, after being deprived of alcohol for so long, thought he was being poisoned.
I gotta admit though, Demoman has my all-time favorite quote: "Oh, they're going to have to glue you back together...In Hell!" The line itself works perfectly with his accent.

Soldier: His real name (Jane Doe) was never in any branch of the military, as they kept turning him down due to mental issues. He did go to war, however, by going to Germany & fighting...*After* the war was actually done & over with.
In the town of Tuefort, it was learned that the entire population had spent years drinking water from lead pipes & were all, shall we say, a bunch of idiots. When members of the Team were there, they had the same water supply as everyone else. Regardless of the fact that Soldier was already a bit of a loony, the leaded water didn't help. Finding out about this, whenever the Team fights on the Tuefort map, their employers include bottled water in with the regular shipments of supplies. However, Soldier still drinks the tap water..."Bottled what?"
The reason Soldier shifted his narrative from Sun Tzu & fighting over to eventually talking about animals in a zoo, it's because he thinks Sun Tzu & an animal zoo are also spelled the same, not just sounding the same; he thinks he's referring to Sun Tzu when talking about a public zoo. Oh yeah, & Soldier is also the one juggling hand grenades in the Meet The Scout video. Yes, that's just how he is...

Spy: You gotta appreciate that this as a man who can lay out a "You mama joke" & back it up with photographic evidence.
When Red Spy cut Sniper's face, you can see that reflected as a scar on Sniper's cheek on his 3D model in the game
Yes, Spy is Scout's father. No, Scout doesn't know that. Yes, Spy is secretly proud of his son but has convinced Scout that his father is Tom Jones (Yes, THAT Tom Jones). How he did this is in the comic series, a free read at the official TF2 website.
You also have to appreciate that the Red Spy completes the last sentence that Blu Spy didn't finish: "He could be you! He could be me! He could even be..." "...Right behind you."
Spy's last line is translated as "Ah, my little cauliflower."

Medic: If you want to know how Blu Spy's severed but still-living head wound up in Medic's refrigerator, this is actually a second concept video about Medic. Valve never finished the original concept but it explains how he "discovered" the process that rapidly heals people & from that, he figured out how to design & build the Medigun & later fitting it with the Ubercharge ability. The name of that unfinished video is "Meet the Medic - Outtake," right here on YouTube. It's the Medigun set on a low power that's keeping Heavy alive & conscience during this video; & also the "smoke test" to activate his prototype Ubercharge unit.
He also has a habit of practicing surgery without gloves but putting glove on when going out to the battlefield.
This is the reason why the only person Heavy respects is the Medic; he has indeed outsmarted the bullet...& the rocket too.
On another note, because of that last scene in the video, there is a small chance in-game that, if Scout is blown to bits in battle, you can see a bird fly out of the Scout's giblets.
BTW, that Spy's head in the fridge has the exact same point-of-view as the camera position in the Meet The Sandvich video, doesn't it?

Pyro: Pyro's video was the last to be released so the general gaming community had seen all of the other videos & speculated widely as to how the Pyro's vid would turn out. There was a general aura of mystery with a bit of horror combined because, let's face it, I have yet to meet anyone who didn't have a deep-seated fear about being burned alive...From what I heard, it's pretty painful (at least until all of your nerve endings are burned away) & suffocating because breathing fire tends to burn your lungs into uselessness. So yeah, Valve didn't have to work very hard to build up the "fear factor" around Pyro.
While not being canon, it's a clever idea that Misan had with his video "Something Is Wrong With Pyro." Heavy refers to Pyro as  "thing." Scout refers to Pyro as a "freak." Spy describes Pyro as "inhuman." They know something about Pyro just ain't normal or right. They know

Guyinthetie: "I'd love a show like this. They should have made it into a series." TF2 was going to be a series on Adult Swim but Valve, having serious problems with making deadlines, were so slow on the pilot episode that the whole deal just fell out. You can still see that "pilot episode" though...It's named "Expiration Date."
"Copyright LOLOLOL" is a sign that Valve is pretty chilled out about the copyrights for TF2...It's probably because they see all of the third-parties who also happen to be making money from their material. Let's face it, TF2 is such a long-running game with high (read- profitable) levels of engagement in the public so they don't feel the need to start suing people for being such good advertisers.

Engineer: Use a gun, and if that don't work, use more gun.

Me: Classic Texan move, classic

In the subtitles of Meet The Pyro, Scout says "He's not here, is she?"

Just Valve trolling as usual.

14:02 LOTS of lead in 2 forts water supply…that’s not a joke, it’s from the comics

Fun thing about Spy. He has a voice line that he can say in 6v6 matches with some very interesting implications. "I like my teams like I like my romances... In groups of 6." Dude just oozes a bard/rouge combo build.

I believe this was already been said, but recently there has been a "Meet the Real Heavy" video acted by the actual Heavy VA. He and some of the other VA for the characters bas been also doing their own short videos under the title "the Sandwish Saga"

And to add, the reason why there are no "Meet the Blu Team" videos is because Ms. Pauling who is the Administrator's secretary has killed the director who did the interview (meet the team videos) with red team before getting the chance to speak with Blu team.

love seeing more people apriciate what tf2 brings to the table with it's characters. it is what always brings me back including the gameplay that just never gets old

I love when reactors don't just sit in their chair and actually do what they were supposed to do

during meet the spy, Blu Scout(Presumably Red Spy) was holding a safe handle instead of bite handle from that balisong(Butterfly knife) because Red Spy was so good at master of disguise. Until the very end...
