Best butler, best devil, best drag queen, best terrifying clown.  RIP, Tim.

We're all doing the Time Warp for Tim.

I have the most ridiculous story about how this movie came into my life. So I was a teenager at a church youth group sleepover and wanted to watch Beauty And The Beast, the only other person still awake convinced me I’d like this better; so we watched this instead. Turns out he was right. 🤣🤣🤣

RIP beautiful Tim Curry 😮

It’s the kind of movie where you can watch it ten times and still feel like you missed some bizarre little detail hiding in plain sight.

My granddaughter loved this show so much. She passed away at 15 and for over 3 hours every teenager that got up to speak at her funeral had said when you got to know Sam she asked if they had ever watched Rocky Horror picture show.  She would then make sure they watched it.  She even went dressed up to a midnight play of the film.  Her boyfriend told everyone who never saw it was invited to his house and they were going to watch the film for Sam 😢.

RIP Tim Curry. There will never be another like you. We have truly lost an icon.

Rice, toast, newspaper, a squirt bottle (to make it rain, hence the newspaper), a cigarette lighter (for There's A Light), and a rubber glove to snap when Frank does.

Back in the late 70s, my fraternity did the Time Warp every Halloween in front of our houses, right on the center dividing line on the street. Speakers blasting from the 2nd floor porch   Good times!

I also saw many midnight showings at the Exeter St Theater in Boston.  Rice and hot dogs were my main contributions, from the balcony.

I had NEVER heard the time warp or of Rocky Horror in my life (small midwestern town). Cut to 1990 or so, im off on a drunken trip to Spain, thanks to the Army setting up discount holidays and im in a British pub in Lloret de mar Spain and once or twice a night, the bar played the Time Warp. Bartenders doing the dance on the bar, the patrons ALL doing the dance and my drunk 20 year old ass fell in love with the song.

RIP Tim Curry 🙏🙏🙏

Iconic movie! It became a cult classic for a reason.

Saw it forty nine times here in Atlanta and always have a blast.

RIP Tim Curry ❤🙏🏾

Loved hearing about the origins and fate of the coffin clock.

I grew up in Berkeley Ca. This was a HUGE thing here. I was able to attend only one time. It took all my GUTS to sneak out to see this. High school, first year 1979

I first saw this movie when I was 15 in 1977. I lost count of how many times I had seen it. 25 years later my friend was dating a younger woman who had never seen Rocky Horror. We decided to go see it at a midnight showing. It is very strange to try and revisit your youth! We did enjoy it but not in the same way we had when we were young teenagers!

Rocky Horror Picture Show is STILL one of my fave movies of all time!  I am also happy to have "dressed up", (complete with feather duster) and seen this show live TWICE - I wish I had seen it live more BUT, both times were FANTASTIC and I'm grateful for the experience!
RIP Tim Curry - bless you and thank you for so many amazing movies!  (I think Legend and IT were amongst my first introductions to you) xxx

My "uncle" played the drums on the Original Roxy Cast of The Rocky Horror Show.

Tim had EIGHT screen credits to his name before ROB told him about Rocky Horror Show.

They had met doing the London run of Hair. Aday was in the US touring cast of that production and can be seen in the background of the Dick Cavett Show presentation on here. Can’t miss him.

When Aday first saw Frank, he walked out of the theatre and into traffic. In his (auto)biography, he recalls they were finalizing the LA production in dress rehearsals, yet no one had seen “Frank” yet. As they went thru the full dress rehearsal one afternoon, the back doors flew open and Tim walked down the aisle in full Frank regalia. Aday was so shocked, he doesn’t remember even getting up and walking out until someone pulled him back out of the street before he got hit. They talked him down, the rehearsal went on, and he stayed on in the dual role of Eddie and Dr. Scott. How the hell they got that far in without any hint of Frank’s role is beyond me, esp as Aday admits he feared being laughed off stage when he reveals Dr. Scott’s fishnets. Instead, he rolled with it and loved hamming up his part in Wild and Untamed Thing, basking in the laughter he was getting.

Barry and Susan were dating when they were casting the movie. They really wanted Susan, who had played several ingenue roles prior, but some managerial loophole kept her from auditioning. So they asked Barry to come in, oh and bring Susan along, please. Once there, they talked her into reading against the other Brads (allegedly Harrison Ford among them?). Luckily, they chose Barry to go with Susan as Brad and Janet.

They weren’t the only couple during filming. Aday and Quinn had a fling during production, before he returned to NYC and began working on Bat1. Also, Richard’s wife Kimi Wong is a Transylvanian. I believe their son Linus was born shortly after the movie was released? Linus later created Strange Journey, a documentary about the entire production that came out for the Fiftieth Anniversary celebrations. (I know Tristan Ratterman and he fully admitted he was talking about my cousin in the doc.)

Aday was initially upset that he would not also play Dr. Scott in the movie, but later understood why that role was recast. There are only a handful of still photos from his Roxy run. Mostly with legs in the air! 😂

Opening night of RHS, there was a thunderstorm. Richard said he took a moment before the show to glance out at the crowd. A flash of lightning revealed Vincent Price in the audience. He took it as a good sign. I forget if Vincent or his wife were performing in another play downstairs, which wrapped before RHS started. The couple decided to go upstairs to see what this new play was about.

Frank N. Furter’s appearance slowly changed before the movie was made. Tim had blond hair with blue highlights which he later darkened to the movie’s ebon curls. He initially used a German accent, but a passing meeting on a bus with an older lady combined with his mother’s telephone voice became Frank’s infamous vocals. The person who designed Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust look also designed Frank’s makeup before Tim took over applying it himself.

The script calls for a door entry into the lab. Production was so rushed, they forgot to add one until Dr. Scott is summoned by the Triple Contact Electromagnet! At which point, they just had him crash thru the wall. (HEY, KOOL-AID!!) The door is later used for entry during Planet Schmanet, with no explanation how anyone else had been coming or going other than the elevator.

Aday has a nod to this movie in his next film, Roadie. He enters via elevator, then we get a roll call scene of him, his father, and girlfriend greeting each other.

Once in a While is not the only Brad scene cut. While filming, ROB took a shine to Barry. He wrote a quick scene of Riff sweet talking his way into Brad’s bed after Frank leaves. Barry was all for it. This explains Brad’s reaction to watching Frank whip Riff before Dr. Scott enters the picture. They quickly realized it threw off the pacing and cut it out in the first round of edits. A rough cut is still on here and Vimeo. Only a handful of film reels used for editing still exist. ROB has an open invitation from one owner who hosts regular viewings, but won’t reveal who it is.
