The familiar moon visible every night just by looking up! But perhaps what we know is merely its surface appearance? How was the moon born, and why does its composition match that of Earth? Although a total of four theories regarding the moon's origin have been proposed, scientific questions remain unanswered. Another interesting fact is that we can only see the moon's "near side" throughout our lives. This is said to be due to the "tide locking effect"... We delve into the reasons why we always see only the front side of the moon from Earth, as well as the true nature of the far side that we cannot see.

Footprints left by Apollo astronauts over 50 years ago remain clearly visible on the moon's surface. It is a unique environment where traces, once left, never fade due to the complete absence of atmosphere, wind, and water currents. It is, in a sense, a "record of time" that preserves billions of years of collisions, changes, and even the footprints of humanity intact. Danuri’s ‘Wide-Field Polarizing Camera,’ developed for the first time in the world by Korea’s first lunar expert, Jeong Min-seop, is the key to interpreting those records. Going beyond conventional vertical observation methods, it captures hundreds of kilometers at a time with a wide 135-degree field of view. By using this new technology to reveal the properties and distribution of lunar soil in three dimensions, the ‘Wide-Field Polarizing Camera’ is opening a new chapter in human exploration.
