My purebred nearly 1 year old Maltese shows needy/clinginess behavior but has grown to not bark at everything and is better at being alone without excessive barking. He also has little to no backbone in dominance and is very passive, anxious and timid. He is more comfortable around people and never socializes with other dogs (big or small or same breed). Hs is potty trained very well indoors and outdoors in the proper places. I just wish he had more confidence in himself but maybe his passive behavior keeps him from destroying the house lol

This great to know  our Pascoe  was Maltese  dog  he was our boy we loved  him so  much  we miss him   so much been 2years. Since   he   passed away

My little guy can’t seem to figure out that YOU DON’T GO IN THE HOUSE!

Barking collar ?? What???

Even if Maltese has behaviour problems, they are not problems. Maltese creates love, joy and totall positive always and everywhere😊❤

My maltese house trained herself. I don't know how she did it but she only goes outside now

@Animal Guide , My maltese puppies (2 month old) eat her poop , please give me an advice 🙏🏻

I have a Maltese mixed, for nearly 2 years. I was told I'm her 4th Owner, also told she has ADHD, nothing else. So she has all of those problems, including eating her poop. She's also been peeing on my bed and sofas including wooden floors that has gaps in between because whoever designed or built these apartments didn't seel it up, so it seeps into the floors I live in a Spacious Studio Apartment and the only thing she learned from me is to go pee in the shower cuz i don't have a tub and i dont like the idea of her holding her piss, also how to sit down but she doesnt sit when she realizes i dont have a treat for her, she can tell, so she wont sit. At this point i see her as a dog thats just being spiteful and trifling, and refuses to learn because i tried many things many ways and it seems to not have worked. She has lost my trust, she's been consuming my time, by cleaning after her and keeping an eye on her when she isnt next to me. I give her everything she needs, not want because i know thats rewarding bad behavior, she also looks away when i speak to her or look at her. I feel extremely disrespected by her and I gave her sooooooooo many chances. I dont wanna get rid of her, but I might have to idk 😭 it saddens me at the end of the day, because i truly feel like I can give her a better life, but i havent been able to give myself and her a better life because she's been glued to my hip since ive gotten her in summer of 2024 and i cant go anywhere without her unless i have someone to watch her. She's spoiled, i still let her on the couch, i still let her sleep on my bed on her own pillow, and i always give her fruits and veggies she can eat, thats safe and really healthy home cooked meals as well, unseasoned of course with herbs she can eat tho. So yea at this point I see why this is her 4th home and idk if a dog trainer would be able to do it, plus thats a lot of money, and im afraid that she'll behave with the dog trainer and end up wanting to go home with them instead, and still refuses to listen to me after being trained. Like i said breaks my heart fr because i am attached to her, i do love her, i wanna give her better and better experiences, and take her with me to a new home, and hopefully she can have her own playroom and backyard to run around and a buddy as well. Oh she also barks at every dog she sees outside very aggressively, and sometimes at people she dont like, and she pulls me, also randomly walks up to peoples feet to smell them when im not paying attention, like i dont have 4 arms and 4 eyes even tho i do wear glasses 😂 😭  also i am tired of people only approaching me and talking to me only about her, when i didnt have a dog noone would talk to me, that says a lot about people/society, horrible, so at times i be wanting to tell them sorry no you can NOT touch my dog and i dont wanna talk to you about her, But i can't accomplish any of those things with her if she's not willing to listen learn and respect me and my home. 😢😭💔💔💔 Maltese are definitely not suitable dogs for an Emotional support, being clingy isn't good enough of emotional support and those 7 problems is not Unconditional love. They're the biggest Narcissistic Breeds. SADLY❕

Switched off the minute you said bark collar  ffs why do you want to give a tiny dog an electric shock

See!? It's so easy 😅

What's with the 'maltese problems? All pets have issues', so why highlight only this? If anyone wants to adopt a specific dog,  ALL can be trained just for e.g what about a Siberian husky that howls, yet husky people accept it goes with the territory and that neighbors dont complain. If you dont want the maltese because of the problems, let the maltese lovers will be only too happy. Don't adopt any dog that is high maintenance  etc, etc. First research from a dependable person, then guage from there. I've only had maltese (other big breeds too), one thing i will say is my maltese is the boss lady,  the large dogs tow the line.
