[Hokkaido Touring 2026, Episode 6] After departing from Midori-yu in Wakkanai and relaxing at Toyotomi Onsen, I enjoyed my first ever Jingisukan (grilled lamb).

I stopped by a reindeer farm along the way and enjoyed the luxury of having the long, straight Esanuka Line all to myself.

My destination for the day was Kutcharo Lakeside Campground. This is a record of a day spent quietly enjoying the atmosphere, spectacular scenery, and food of northern Hokkaido.

This is episode 6 of Hokkaido Touring 2026 (24 nights, 25 days solo touring), a journey through Hokkaido on a Yamaha Tenere 700 by a 52-year-old motorcycle beginner.

I hope to share the unique charm of Hokkaido touring, from the scenery along the way in search of breathtaking views, to the encounters I've had at various destinations, accommodations, and rider houses.

I hope to convey at least a little of the atmosphere of the journey to those planning a solo Hokkaido touring or camping trip, or those interested in crossing Japan by ferry.
