The Ifni War (1957) was one of the most overlooked conflicts in recent Spanish history. A confrontation between the Spanish Army and the Moroccan Liberation Army that marked the beginning of a long-standing territorial dispute that continues to this day.
In this documentary, we analyze the origins of the conflict between Spain and Morocco, from its historical background in the Sahara and the protectorate, to the outbreak of the war and its main military operations.
An episode silenced during the Franco regime, yet essential to understanding current tensions in Ceuta, Melilla, and Western Sahara.
In this video, you will discover:
The historical origins of the conflict
Morocco’s independence
The Ifni War step by step
Spanish military operations
Why this conflict still matters today
