So it's to protect your stock of grain all eaten up by mice during those long hard winters!

We also have crisscrossed interlocked timber in Finland, we are known for our expertise in traditional log houses. I guess extreme cold requires similar solutions. It can get colder, -40C in some parts but it's probably less windy than the alps and we have 100% oxygen because of low fells
