First of all, thank you for making this video. I have been writing with the Asvine, Jinhao, and Hongdian pens - same ones you have - and each time I think to myself, "these are so enjoyable to write with. Why would anyone spend hundreds of dollars when you can get something like these for under $50?"

As a retired teacher, I adore the way you teach to the class lol! Would you mind terribly doing a short review of the different types of fountain pens and show us how they work so that we can make a more educated choice of what style ink involvement & processes we want to purchase? Lori can you make a video on how to clean and maintain pens with all types cartridges. Plus cleaning tools like flushing, especially how to clean ink off things-like my hands. Thanks!!

The barrell was probably to dry and not lubricated so the rubber gasket got stuck. Lubing up the barrel will prevent that for any vac pens.

hey! i felt compelled to say something about the pen grip thing:

the most important thing to pen ergonomics is avoiding straining/pain, usually by loosening or widening the grip. from there, whether you use a tripod grip or not is inconsequential. whoever's tormenting you about your pen grip has likely heard some misguided information about "the ideal pen grip." there is no one pen grip that everybody agrees on, because we all have different needs and our bodies are all capable of different movements. keep doing what works for you. :)

completely agree with you on the jinhao 20— if you write with it once a day its wonderfully smooth and the dryout is basically a nonissue! my only issue with it as a daily pen is that its ink capacity is a little low for how wet it writes, but i also mitigate that by just using it as my at-home pen so i can refill it anytime. ive gotten the green with rose gold bits and use wearingeul "the wind rustled among leaves" in it and it's my favorite out of the four i own haha

Thanks to your video I found out there were less expensive options than the big names and ive ordered a 3 pack of Jinhao 82 in a medium nib. My amazon basics fountain pen is way too heavy for me. ❤ happy writing.

Thankyou for this. I'm super new to pens. I started doing a reading journal and wanted a nice pen to go with it, and this has definitely given me an idea of what to look for in the way of my first fountain pen. That green shell one is stunningly gorgeous.
