This is one terrific person.  Watching reruns here of his talk shows is refreshing in lieu of today's 'ralk shows'.  One of the best for certain.

This sound of his voice is the one hasn't changed bit!

Dick Cavett is so incredibly erudite, witty, intelligent.  The man has interviewed just about everyone.

Mr. Cavett is four months shy of 88. So grateful his memories are documented here.

He was the only American presenter l could stand, the others were so full of themselves.
One of a kind!

Dick Cavett is the BEST with a lot of sense of humor 🫡

I would have loved more questions about Dick Cavett, than questions about other celebrities. I loved his interview approach during his show.

He looks older, but he still looks like his young self.

I just love Dick Cavett, great to hear him here reflecting on his career.

It's hard to say now, how Dick Cavett was unique among the talk shows, and what an impact he had in the 70s and 80s.  Carson was great, but different.  Cavett's show was more indepth with guests... more about WHO they were, rather than what the were doing and plugging, though there was some of that.  And Cavett knew and appreciated that some guest were historical... and he interviewed them, not as a figure just of the moment, but he did an interview for the ages... and that's why so many of his interviews from 50 years ago are still fun to watch.

My regret was that his show was cancelled and he largely faded from the public view... when he should have had a much longer period  of providing his style of interviews.  He's an interesting and caring individual... and we are all fortunate he rose to having his own show, as long as he did.    But it is also true that there can come a time when you are just drained of ideas and even of interest in topics which once excited you.

I remember years ago watching Cavett and thinking just shut up, you talk too much. Oh, how wrong I was. Love you, man.

I could listen to this man all day!

Dick Cavett is a breath of fresh air wherever and whenever he appears.

Dick Cavett... It's fun to watch him ponder over what he has just said and make spontaneous edits.  Wish he was my friend.

A testament to Cavett is his friendships, Paar, Carson, Woody, Groucho…Eddie Murphy !

That was an era when talk shows were family friendly, intelligent and witty. A great way to end a day.

He looks, sounds and acts just the same as his younger self.  This is one of those vids that, though long, wasn’t quite long enough. Could listen to him tell stories for hours.  Would love to hear him tell more abt his shows with John Lennon, Janice Joplin and the like. Those belong in the Smithsonian (as it were).

I disagree that Dick Cavett wasn't the intellectual that people thought him to be.

For much of the country he was highly intelligent, very well spoken, well educated, cultured, affable, and genuine. For the vast majority of the public, he was an intellectual, and a pretty good model of what one should be.

2:49 Man, I love that guy! Hilarious.

The true test of a talk show host:
He who is a great guest is the great interviewer.
