Hi from Germany! This channel is so helpful! ❤

4:10 I saved over 30% on my kitchen by stretching the negotiations over 3 months. It's definitely worth it being patient. All without downgrading my kitchen in any way. Just waiting till the right promotion came along.

As ever, an excellent vid with great advice. Thank you 😊

You can also save by using wider and deeper drawers, instead of many small drawers.

You might not need to replace any appliances for the renovation. If your current ones aren't old and are in good condition they'll probably last for quite a while yet.

always thoughtful great videos! Liked!

Appreciate the suggestions and the trade offs to consider when making these choices.

I have a dedicated appliance store, about three blocks away. I'll continue to deal with my fellow humans.

Great video. Thank you.

All the designers, carpenters and contractors are screaming at the screen watching this 😂😂

Yes, moving plumbing and electrical cabling is expensive, but if it needs to be done in order to achieve the best layout and functionality, it is false economy to skip it. Just refreshing the cabinets but maintaining a bad layout is a waste of money. Improving the layout is one of the most important things that a kitchen redesign can achieve - eliminating corners, improving access from the main preparation space to fridge, sink/dishwasher, cooktop and the most frequently-used implements build the greatest value, above even converting under-bench cupboards to drawers (which should be almost obligatory).

The problem is potential argument between appliance companies, kitchen cabinets and installers if you do all separately to save money. Some installers are not on payroll of the kitchen cabinets companies, hence if something goes wrong, it will be a ball kicking between them. Some installers are sub-contractors, some are patrolled. On top of this, if appliance goes wrong, for instance, not working due to angle of installation or similar, they may blame installers or cabinets company 😢 any solutions for this?

I'm still in the planning stage, part of why I'm redoing my kitchen being water damage from a roof leak, so overall in the saving money sphere I'm planning on making my own hardwood no toe kick cabinets, shelves and worktop, as I have a set of contractors redo the electric, all the appliances, including adding a clothes washer and dryer before the floor is fixed and redone.

I will keep looking for cabinets that fit the look and stability of feel I'm going for, but so far I'm finding every showroom setup I see has basically the same cabinets that I look at, eyeroll, give the drawer & door openings a try with & think "another mess that belongs in a dumpster not my home". I'm not sure if my making the cabinets myself will really "save money" in terms of that vs the dumpster worthy products that I do see many buying but as I've told my spouse- I'll either find something that completely fits in the cabinet sphere, make them, or use storage totes until 1 of those first 2 happen.

Here that tip regarding countertops does not apply to laminate, because the major cabinet companies have their own countertop departments - they are not a middle man. But for stone? Absolutely worth sourcing yourself, and also for glass splashbacks. Those are typically measured by the stone/glass company anyway, after the cabinets are already installed, to reduce errors, so it's not so dependent on everything else.

For practical reasons, I'd source mechanisms that alter the installation of the cabinet through the kitchen company. Less errors that way, even if it costs some more - some mechanisms are tricky to even order the right version of. The stores selling hardware even to private customers also have high marginals.
But miscellaneous other hardware? You might find wider selection elsewhere. I also like rethinking those after installing the cabinets.

The kitchen place i used actually supplied bosch appliances cheaper than i could find them online
