Just want to say this channel deserves more subscribers. I’ve been following along for years and although it’s not the same type of channel as Grant Horvat or Bryan Bros, you’ve done such a good job diving into the nitty gritty with all these different coaches. This is the type of stuff real golf nerds like to watch!

You can see the disconnect in Brendon’s understanding versus the drill. BBG wants to accelerate with his body before rthe strike and get open instead of doing it post strike in intent. Try like the devil to hook it from the 4:30 line to impact, tons of forearm rotation and minimal body turn, and try like the devil to cut it with your body after the strike with extreme rotation, particularly of the upper body while keep ing the face looking at the target as long a possible in feel. A huge turn early will require lots of side bend to get the club down to the ball instead of just an unlocking of the wrists in the vertical plane. Or that’s how I see it anyway.

On this very channel, AJ taught the exact same cupped wrist action. However, he wanted a slightly outside in to inside path (a little over the top), butt of the handle does pass the ball, then the thumb joint of the right hand overtakes the pinky joint of the right as the throw-out action of the clubhead happens. Hand action of a hook, path action of an ott slice.

Nicest thing I can say is, John has a ton of talent.

11:49 club face closed opposite of what the guy told him to do

If you read a bit about Hogan, he was a chain smoker. That was not a straw, it was a smoke.

Yeah agree strong hands, forearms help immensely! Added 25 yds to my drive in 3 months from working unloading UPS trucks! I worked too fast. Used the 4 hours as a gym workout. Drank more than a gallon of water.

This helped me to understand the feel and swing better. Thank you!

Schauffele said when he was a little kid his dad would have him take a hammer and hit a nail all the way in with one swing— he did it by using his arm and body then snapping his wrist at the ball at impact— this seems similar

This helped me a bunch. Thanks

Henry Cotton Ben Doyle taught beat the tire many years ago. My biggest issue is the extended lead wrist at p5. I don't know any professional who does that. Hogan, Moe didn't as far as I could tell. Trevino certainly had flexion at P4, Hogan says he did at impact. Seems the most difficult part of the process. I do like the level shoulders (Faldo) and the continued acceleration and rotation, keeping the face square to target throughout.

Cant think of a single tour player who is open like this at p6. From down the line most are 12.30 to 1 on a clock face. At best Hogan's face was vertical, but hard to tell with old footage and framerate.

brandon has a good "hogan v". I would just like to see him get the feeling of using the v to push the club up to the top. Of course, u have to make a connected takeaway to put yourself in a position to do that. And that's where the impact snap comes in.

I'd be interested to see what Dr Kwon has to say on these ideas. Or what hackmotion graphs show is actually happening in both the drill and the resulting swing.

Everyone does everything wrong....lol

Release is flippy. Look at where the toe of the clubhead is facing about a foot after impact . Hogans hands were obscured by his body at this point. You can hit the ball very well doing this , but you definitely need superior timing . It is not like Hogan or Trevino and more like Freddie
Your problem emanates from your movement in transition and not training more supination in the lower downswing . The secret to Hogans swing was his hands were still going back and gravity setting the clubhead as his lower body was starting down. This is clearly indicated in Hogans grid videos .
The drill that you suggested at the end is a terrific drill to train a better transition . It will force your lower body to start down while your hands are still setting and going back .

@nicholasdemetriades9154 5 months ago

Lol! I'm not gonna hit another ball better than that! Its what I do at the end of my practice! Sometimes it takes 2 or 3. Usually around 8-10 shots. Sometimes its the glow in the dark golf ball. Only one so it makes you really focus.Having to retrieve it each time.

Why in teaching and talking about the golf swing do people always talk about the shoulders, arms, hips, and legs but almost never the rib cage? There was a reason Hogan kept his arms close to his rib cage. It connects everything really well. If you concentrate on turning the ribs the arms and shoulders move together and the pelvis is wound up as well. Everything is connected and working in good sequence.
