300 a day to set up a camera on a southern Mexican beach is gnarly.

In the UK you would be outraged, but in Mexico is "just the way it works". Let's be clear, they are a Mafia and you have to bribe them in order to surf. Moreover, Mexicans from other regions cannot surf it because the price is too high and only tourist can afford it... Apart from that, really nice video and good that you pointed this out - no PRO would ever mention this. Great surfing and keep work!

I was a guest at one of the camps a few years back. I though it was most amusing to be paying 300 USD per day to compete for waves at the take off zone with employees of the very same surf camp.

Very different from my 70’s surf trips to Mexico. Everything was open for surf exploration. Glad I got to do mainland Mexico then.

I drove down that way a couple years ago, couldn't find a guide. There were no waves as it was winter. We did stay at a wonderful camp where the camp hostess made some really good food. Loved our stay in the area.

Very special area of the world. When i first made it down there 16 yrs ago, it was empty. Only place i could think that its like is gold coast australia, but salina cruz is better/longer.

I'm glad I can get waves on the north coast of NSW or at home without paying anything to the corporations of greed. I'm old school but 64 l don't need photography to make me feel good 😂😂😂😂

300 a day to surf is a catchy headline but misleading. At the resorts, 300 a day covers hotel room, meals, guide service, drinks etc. Not that bad when you think of it that way.

great video Dan. Yep , ive heard the same thing about down there. being isolated and everyone from all over evens the playing field a bit and forces a sense of etiquette that isn't always the greatest at local crowded public spots...Great to see you shreddin as well!
