I'm not a "car bloke" basically my last four vehicles have been diesel focus, petrol fiesta, diesel vito van, another diesel vito van and then finally a VW ID.Buzz.   I absolutely love my EV, everything about it, the charging, the driving, the money saving, the power and the quiet.  Never going back.

Changed my 4 year old volvo v60 diesel for a new kia ev3... insurance exactly the same.
Less than 2p a mile against 17p a mile.
No tax, this year anyway.
Servicing a quarter of the price, but dealer gave me 3 years free servicing.
New car means no mot's for 3 years, plus 7 years of kia warranty
Savings mean in effect it costs me 50 a month less.
If you can charge at home, it's a no-brainer.
Public charging needs to be considerably cheaper though to make it worthwhile for those who can't charge at home.
Driving experience is much better, imo, than ice cars.
Never going back to ice , they seem like antiques after owning an ev

Well said, it is a car and it fills up whilst I sleep for most journies. I would never go back to ICE cars having owned them for 35 or so years. For so long car companies have drip fed updates and EV's have accelerated the roll out of things such as adaptive cruise control. On the odd time I have a long trip, generally it takes 10 to 15 minutes for my car being ready to go, this is not enough time to drink a coffee!
I totally agree that if you can park  and charge at home, it makes so much sense. It can work in other cases, but most likely will not offer the huge savings you get with home charging over petrol.

10K subs to go until EVM gets a nice silver wall decoration :)

Bad back and bad knees it’s a pleasure to be out of a vehicle after 2 hours

Have been driving family and friends mad for years including my long suffering wife . And then it all changed once we purchased a EV  and  Heat
pump . And the power bills was getting cheaper. Ok we have solar and battery.

Now my little wife and daughter have become the people that there friends go to for advice,

Great video as always. Keep smiling everyone

Now have two EV's at home and for the month of May it cost me £15.30 which was 194 kWh, it helps that i have solar & battery storage, ice cars were costing me over £150 month for petrol , In winter the worst month cost me £76.54 for 264 kWh no going back to ice cars

After reading your reviews, as well as many others, I bought a Kia Nero 3 in 2023. Brilliant. I have travelled to the south of Spain in it, many times, on Autoroutes and through sleepy town routes to see the real country. I do charge at home, when I'm at home but I wouldn't change it. As you says it just means taking sensible decisions, and gives rise to wonderful, non-polluting journeys!

If this was shared to Facebook the comments would be full of people who've never owned an EV telling you that you're wrong.

No matter how balanced you are.

Love your honesty....i charge at home and enjoy my Ev car but i wouldn't buy one if i had to public charge all the time as it is far too expensive...more than petrol equivalent.

I had 2 colleagues - fellow HG pilots - emotionally ranting & denouncing heat pumps. Neither has any experience of them, but had strong, adamant opinions & ‘facts’ non-the-less. I calmly tried to interject several times, ‘I actually have one at home, been through 2 Winters, it’s great’. But was largely ignored & shouted over by those that knew nothing & had never had one. They would do the same about EVs but since I’ve been turning up at remote sites with mine they haven’t bothered emoting their opinions about that anymore!

I have had my Model S 85D for 10.5 yrs, 400,000 km, and 85% battery.  The car still looks and drives as new.  Would never go back to gas.

I’m 5 years into owning an EV, love it. I’m interested in future battery technology advances such as CATL launching and proving sodium ion batteries. They have decent energy density, use less controversial chemicals, last a very long time and most critically they are pretty much fire safe. Oh and on an exciting note they cost a lot lot less than current batteries . Another great video, thank you

Never having to visit a petrol station and during summer months the income from solar panels means I pretty much don’t pay for fuel. I’m a happy EV owner and have no interest in going back 😊

I agree with pretty much all of that after 8 years and 3 different EVs. If I had to make one criticism, I’d say you didn’t make enough of the overall cost savings of an EV. The general  consensus is that EVs are more expensive, and they are a bit, but the TCO is so much lower that I can’t afford to go back to ICE.

I have just recently got my first EV a used Nissan Leaf ( Thats all I can afford ) and its been great so far and I have to say that here in Adelaide Australia the public charging network has been really good with several charging sites near me ( around 8km or 5 miles ) and have never been broken down and usually free without having to wait for someone else.
Insurance for my Nissan Leaf here in Australia is the same as my previous petrol car and I just use the granny charger at home over night using your standard home socket and there are some charging sites that are still offering free charging or free 7kwh and then charge only a little bit more than what im paying at home so its at least 50% cheaper than petrol here in Australia.

Another informative video, I've been following you since the start. I'm on my third EV and the wife's on her first. We have a home charger which came free free with our first EV.I charge mine every two or three weeks, the wife's once a week.We have occasional weekends away and use their free destination chargers. Thanks once again for your inspiring uploads.

Our 22-year-old daughter got an insurance quote for 100 quid less last week than a comparable diesel. How times have changed. PS: She went with the EV.

Your test drive of that wheel spinning Kona at Morecambe was the video that prompted us to check out leccy motoring. Test drove the same car. First thought was. It doesn't drive any different to a diesel automatic. Now done 200k leccy miles. 👍

Thanks for this genuine and first hand information. I needed this in the midst of disinformation and exaggerations against EVs. More power to you!
