RUMOR has it Thom did not go to opening day because he knew his arch nemesis Miles in Transit would be there and it would awkward.

Recently Thom, Gov. Josh Shapiro passed a public transit funding bill created by State Rep. Ed Neilson that allocates 300 million dollars into public transit for all of Pennsylvania's 67 counties. This funding bill is called the Public Transportation Trust Fund Transfer Act.

I might move to Philly, public transit and walkability has become more important to me

There was supposed to be a trolley transportation center under the plaza where the lightning bolt sculpture is that's at the base of the BF Bridge. There was a WHYY documentary titled, "Secrets Beneath the Streets," that details that and other underground infrastructure.

I used it last week...to Haddenfield.
I think they did a good job with the station.

Haddenfield is charming. But many shops are closed on Mondays.

On Saturdays the Collingswood farmer market is open until noon. Its held under the PATCO station. Go on a Saturday. Their season ends around Thanksgiving. Take the train.

Wished WMATA still had gates that take paper cards, just for nostalgia.

From my non-american perspective the area seems fairly central. The downtown can't be only a couple of skyscrapers, it has to be a wider area and this station serves it.

Prior to the construction of the Ben Franklin Bridge, the Franklin Square neighborhood was densely packed and thriving--though very much blue collar. There were four theaters on 8th, between Race and Vine. So, definitely an area people traveled to. But it did not have the large office buildings and department stores found elsewhere in Center City. The Bridge (1926) approaches wiped out a lot of buildings. Then, the demand for car parking caused by the bridge led to many buildings being demolished for parking lots. Parking lots infest the area to this day. By the time the station opened in 1936, there was no reason for a pedestrian to get off at that location, and the environment (approaches and parking lots) was not pedestrian friendly. But judging by all the new apartment/condo buildings going up in Philly these days, I  suspect that landowners will get more return from converting parking lots to residential buildings. Station usage might go up.

It's a beautifully renovated station, but the elevator is already broken?As I get close to retirement I've started thinking about those things. Disabled and elderly people really have a lot of challenges. That aside, I still get excited when I see a train coming, even in a video.

Have never been to Philadelphia to ride trains.  Just passed thru a few times while on Amtrak.  That has to change!  Want to ride all the trains in every major city just to experience them.

I had zero idea that this station existed, just lying dormant. I couldn't even count how many times I've been over both PATCO and the Ben Franklin bridge, having grown up in south jersey but going to school in Philly.

When I was a teenager (a long time a go) we lived in New Jersey but I had to travel to Philly for orthodontist appointments.  Nice that the transit service is back in business.  Thanks for the update.

Yes, the platform waiting area is exceptionally wide, because the tracks divide there to go on to the sides of the Ben Franklin Bridge.
