Adding the key of the sample was the best thing akai ever did.

One of the best takes I got from you was: Don't complicate. Do your thing, put the music out. Once I started doing that, I threw most preconceptions I had through the window. It's very easy to fall into the X does it this way, Y dois it that way SO THOSE MUST BE the right ways. Chop some shit over some drums and that's it. Keep doing it, don't spend much time in the same beat. Feed the brain and the ears. It will add up. Grande abraço Marco!

Now what my man is saying. He don't care. He just does it

@arsonalspits 3 years ago

I Dont worry about none of that because I just follow my ears

This relaxed approach to chopping opens up millions of new possibilities

Sometimes people focus so much on the technical details that they forget to make music that express what they feel.
Just remember JDilla, he turn off the quantize and made what he felt was good.
I really love this kind of videos.

This is like the holy grail video if you're learning to sample chop, very helpful thanks ✌️

Finding patterns regardless of bpm by just playing chops is what gives all the vibe and creative aspect but warping/stretching technique to create chord progressions to base everything else on is golden

Greatest teacher , "time will meet time". Your tips always come in handy ,

‘Small chops’ is the way I used to approach sampling when I first started sampling because I owned an S950. The sample time was hella short. I also had no idea what I was really doing yet. Experimenting was EVERYTHING. As time progressed, I got into loops and chopping larger sections. I miss those days of minimalism and not having so much info under my belt. I enjoyed knowing LESS!!! 😂💯‼️🔥

If I can get the key, I consider that as a bonus

I 💯% Agree I'm not a fan of the time stretched sound even the best ones have artifacts when pushed Chopping & Pitching are my favorite ways to go, that's also part of the classic Boom Bap sound✌

Totally agree....I get some dope grooves out of "clashing" bpm's........the clocks syncing up at my house when I was a kid is so nostalgic. Lol...loved when that shit happened. 💪👍

This was the most valuable lesson i needed

I work in the same way like you do! Time is just a concept and it's relative, by not caring about time you can be/create something timeless! Love your videos, big up. ❤️

You are one of my biggest inspirations Marlow! I got the same mpc live 2 and turntable you got and hope to learn your ways!!!!!

@LeoXonix 3 years ago

Ive never really cared a bout BPM or the key, I've always used my ears, even though I no longer sample, but I get you what you mean %100

@ericqualley6764 3 years ago

I needed this because I tend to focus way to much on lining sample drums up perfectly and at some point I lose a lot of time and a lot of drive during projects
