Building and painting the AFV M35A2 cargo truck 1/35

August 21. 2022---Thanks for the video as this is a kit I don't have. Got back into modeling. but going for realistic 1/35 scale zombie/apocalypse dioramas. Thing is, I'll not only using some kits with soldiers, but also as mil-surplus ones, with some of the mil-surplus ones will be towing trailers.

I am almost done building the M35A2 kit and previously built the M49A2C which is based on the same chassis but puts a fuel tank in place of the truck bed. It has been a fight on both of them. For me it is a poorly engineered kit and the instructions are not helpful at all. For example, on the M49A2C in the MERC camo scheme, they DO NOT show the pattern to be painted on the left side of the vehicle. Your only guide is the box top and even then it does not match up very well with the what the overhead view shows. Later on I will be building the M35A1 as a straight M35 (gas engine, not diesel) and have already made some of the modifications necessary. It will also be in overall Strata Blue since it will be a USAF deuce from the mid 50s. Quite a few of the M35A1s and 2s that we had in my unit in Germany had a different type of side view mirror than is provided in the kit.

Fast but great job, thanks for sharing. I am wondering if you used any type of varnish before starting weathering? Am I missing something or you did not use?

Great job! What did you use for the dusty windshield? I noticed you masked it first but I'm wonedring if the dirt on the windshield is something permanent and not just some pastel that will eventually blow away. Thanks!
