Without knowing any of that, we all feel so grateful for Grandpa Sotomauru. For myself I can say, I've grown to love Grandpa. Hes very old, I believe I heard he's the oldest monkey in the enclosure. Regardless, he took our favorite baby Macaque under his protection. He showed our sweet baby rules, the do's and don't's of Macaque behavior! And our smart little guy learned, at the feet of the oldest, wisest, best friend of the leader, Akira. All the other members of the troope saw it. Understood it. Basically, it said "HANDS OFF, HE'S MINE"!!!. Because of that, door's opened for Punch. And our sweet little Punch, understood that this old monkey cared about him. Was patient with him. Without knowing how, he understood that Grandpa protected him. Sometimes he didnt understand Grandpa's lessons. But, he understood that he just did so.ething wrong!. And our smart boy, learned from it. He wasn't afraid of Grandpa. He somehow knew that even though he just did something that made Grandpa unhappy, Grandpa never hurt him! He understood him. Watching all of this between them from the beginning, I started falling in love with Grandpa too. I'm a nobody. Just an old woman(71) living in Florida, USA. BUT, I'm a grandma and I understood Grandpa's corrections. We as grandparents teach our grandchildren ourselves. Have to discipline them ourselves. And we do it with love. We all saw when Grandpa began having a seizure, Punch started freaking out! His yelling, screaming, got the attention of the keeper's. They took Grandpa into the back room to help him. Our sweet, smart baby Punch, helped him by realizing something bad was happening and he needed help to help Grandpa. I dread the day when we lose Grandpa. I know I'll grieve his loss. So I can only imagine how devastated 💔 our Punch will be.
As someone who has lived alone for many years, I understand Punch's dependence on Grandpa. Even if Grandpa never did anything else to help Punch except to sit besides him, thats enough for Punch for now. Just for someone to show that he wasnt alone. The way that Punch goes to sleep laying on Grandpa, it shows how safe Punch feels around him!
I don't know who's foolish idea it was to take the keepers out of Punch's life but it was soooo wrong to do!!! It undid all those months of raising Punch, withdrew their love and security from his life. At the same time, those trouble-making bully's stepped up their horrible behavior!!! And it left our sweet baby feeling so alone , so venerable ! And I believe the bully's saw that the keepers no longer cared about him, whether true or not, I believe it sent that message to them! I not only thought they believed that, I believe they wouldn't have stopped until, they kil*led him!!! Those attacks kept escalating daily and included more and more monkey's!!!!
