Saying Maya deserved better would be a massive understatement

Look all I'm saying is that if we all pretend that Borderlands 3 doesn't exist, then Maya is technically not dead

She wast my favourite character and they just killed her off and played her memorial as a joke.

Mayas death was one of the worst scenes in BL3

"Don't worry big guy, I'll be back. I promise." 😭😭😭😭😭

She didn't even have much of a story they just killed her off

"Speak, Maya. Speak."
"Um... Hi."
I felt that in my soul.

"The monks taught me to respect silence so that combat could be even more invigorating. They were wrong as hell."

I think the part that hurt the most about her death is that the writing made it feel like they felt it was justified and earned the same way Roland's was, when in reality, it couldn't have been as impactful unless she was alongside Lilith from the beginning. Roland's made you feel something because he was with you from the time you busted him out of prison to the second he got shot through the chest. Lilith was in the story of 3 long enough to get the shard and then she was dead. All she was there to do was fill in the gap between 2 and 3 and lore dump Ava onto everyone. Even after she died, there was hardly the same kind of reflection for her that you got to experience with Roland. One of my favorite parts of Borderlands 2 is how much weight it put on character deaths. You could feel Roland was gone when you got back to Sanctuary and heard every person in town talk about how much he had done for them. All Maya got was an awkward memoriam from Tannis, Lilith had almost nothing to say and Ava solidified her position as the worst character in the series by screaming at Lilith about how it's her fault she's dead, even though it was 100% on Ava. It feels like they killed Maya just because 2 and Tales killed off major characters too.

I don't  believe how they just killed her off like that and then they never adress her death or advance the story through it.
It was just an unnecessary death.

I don’t think I’ll ever understand why she was killed off. She was in the story for such a small amount of time, then all of a sudden she’s dead and the memorial they give her sucked. It’s almost as if they really just wanted to get rid of her character for whatever reason and this was the best they could come up with. Only two options I see here that would please the fans is either 1) Maya is not actually dead or 2) Kill off Ava in a similar shitty way since literally nobody likes her.

I really liked playing as Maya in Borderlands 2, I'm sadden that she's gone, like, forever.

Maya was my first playthrough character and I love her personality and voice acting. After watching this video, I kinda understand what gearbox trying to archieve through Ava but it was done so horribly none of their intention matters now.

It sounds like a great backstory right up until Ava shows up, then it just stops. Ava is like that turd stuck in the toilet bowl, it suddenly showed up and no matter what you do it just won't flush.

I just wished that Lilith and maya could have a deep conversation of who they are and questions they have. They could’ve really bond and collaborate in so many activities

Well kreig is gonna bring the  calypsos back to life just to kill them for killing Maya

I really liked the moment where Maya read Tannis' note and her response was "I'm attractive?" I don't know why that hit me so much. She's had Kreig simping for her for the whole game but hearing it from someone else kinda confirmed she isn't just attractive to psychos and give her a well deserved boost in ego, especially since she probably didn't get much direct praise back on Athenas

This is the only time in fiction I want a character to come back to life.

Maya.....such a pretty lady...

I would be fine with maya’s death if Troy ACTUALLY went with the full betrayal route at the end of the story and didn’t just die off. Her death didn’t seem like it was as important as it should have been because of that and it should have impacted the remainder of the story a lot more than it did, which I think that’s what gearbox was trying to go for, but they just handled the last quarter of the story sooooo badly

She was perfect to explore the lore behind sirens and they killed her for no reason
