In this video, we explore Romans 9–11 and Paul’s profound reflection on a central question: why did Israel not believe in Jesus as the Messiah? Paul argues that God has not rejected Israel. Instead, he presents a complex vision of salvation history in which Israel remains God’s chosen people, even while many have not recognized Christ. Using examples from Abraham’s descendants (Isaac and Ishmael) and the concept of the “remnant,” Paul explains that God’s plan has always worked through election and freedom, not automatic lineage. A key theme is the relationship between Israel and the Gentiles. Israel’s rejection of the Gospel has opened the way for the Gentiles to receive salvation, but this is not the end of the story. Paul insists that this situation is temporary: when the “fullness of the Gentiles” comes in, “all Israel will be saved” (Rom 11.25–26), revealing God’s enduring fidelity to His promises. The video also highlights Paul’s distinction between salvation by the law and salvation by faith in Christ. While the law had a pedagogical role, true righteousness comes through faith, understood not as mere intellectual belief but as a lived relationship with Christ. This shift transforms how Scripture, salvation, and divine justice are understood. Finally, the resurrection of Christ is presented as the entry of divine eternity into human history: the “Kairos” of God breaking into chronological time (Chronos). From this perspective, the Christian life already participates in the end times, where eternity is present “here and now.” Overall, Romans 9–11 reveals a unified divine plan embracing both Jews and Gentiles, centered on faith in Christ and the mystery of God’s faithful and unfolding salvation.
