Welcome to the UK's worst Seaside Town 2026, for the 2nd year running Bognor Regis, in West Sussex on England's South Coast has been voted the UK's worst seaside town and has ranked amongst the top contenders of this notorious title for years! But is it really that bad? Today we find out. For decades Bognor Regis was a titan within the British tourism industry attracting thousands of tourists every year but in recent times with tourism numbers and spending in the town dwindling, Bognor Regis like many seaside towns now finds itself dealing with a range of issues including being the most dangerous town in the region with a crime rate over double the regional average, according to the stats your more likely to be involved in a crime here than in places like Croydon or Birmingham. Needless to say there's high rates of substance and alcohol abuse, and according to the reports the high street and beachfront are in major decline! So in this documentary I headed to Bognor Regis to find out if it really is the UK's Worst Seaside Town.

all by design ...just like every former lovely seaside resort in the country...i lived in bournemouth for 60 years left 5 years ago...going back is very depressing

Just had a great holiday at Butlins. Walking along the front to Bognor is lovely.
The staff at the train station were so friendly.
Lovely pub called The Waverley we had a lovely meal.
It is better than Brighton in our opinion.

Ipswich used to give the rough sleepers 3 or 4 days indoors and 3 days back in the streets and parks. It gave the homeless a chance to clean themselves and recover. Obviously it wasn't ideal but it helped them too.

Doesn't matter where you are in the world living or visiting a seaport town. Many of them are facing the same problems. The council or a gov't body have to address it. One of the reasons that Bognor would get voted as the worst seaside town is that it sits in wealthy West Sussex, so anything rundown will stand out more.

I used to go down there to see a friend every weekend back in the very early 90s and it was always a bit sad, i did once see Robert Smith of the cure getting out of his Range Rover in the town once. I grew up in Hastings and seaside towns have an element of violence you do not get elsewhere. They have always been the dumping grounds of cities problem people.

I lived in Bognor for years, it used to be amazing in 2002 - 2005 when I was there. We used to do free running and when star wars episode 2 came out, about 15 of us got lightsabers and had the most AWESOME duels in the high street.

It's so sad to see 😢

OH and Gamestation! That was everyones hang out spot back in the day
