I think the reason Toby is hiding Papyrus so much is because his mere appearance would give away that DR Sans is actually a younger UT Sans. What if he shows up in the next chapter and he's like, 12 years old? Old enough for Sans to be comfortable telling a teenager to befriend him, but young enough to look significantly different from Undertale?

Always bet on Kid Papyrus

“Is Friend a virus?”

Hey all I’m saying is that Spamton has the same colored eyes as friend, spam emails spread viruses, and said spam email can give Noelle the Thorn Ring which infects (like a virus) her with something

can't wait for the chapter where sans finally lets us meet his brother and when we enter his house gaster is there and sans goes "what? you look like you were expecting a different brother. which is weird, because I don't have any other brothers."

I 100% agree about chapter 5 having an extended date segment. Specifically because I can perfectly imagine a scene at the top of the ferris wheel that goes:
"Susie, now that we're all alone up here, there's actually something I've been meaning to tell you..."
"Oh, uh, actually, I also wanted to tell you something today. Something, kind of important, about the last few days."
"Oh, well, maybe we should, um, say it at the same time?"
"If you want, I guess."
"Okay! Let's go! One! Two! Three!"
"I love you!" "The Dark World is real."
"WHAT" "WHAT"

I can so imagine sans opening the chapter with something like "birds are singing, flowers are blooming. On days like these kids like you... should be out of bed already." seems like a toby thing to do

10:30 tbf asgore is absolutely the type of guy to dress as a king and a cowboy at the same time.

Here's my extremely minor, not even worth emailing pet theory that barely even affects anything:

Every time we see Hometown, we get access to new spots, with Noelle's house only being explored in Chapter 4, or the police station no longer being closed in Chapter 2, meaning that Deltarune obviously has no qualms revealing new spots whenever the story calls for it.
On the alleyway, there is an extendable ladder sprite at the top left of the wall.
My very inconsequential theory is that, at some point, that ladder will extend, and we will get some kind of scene on rooftops

People need to remember a couple things. One, Toby is not Scott Cawthon, he's not going to change the story because we managed to guess where it's going, and two, the average Deltarune player doesn't really know about Dess. We are in the trenches, full brainrot, we have to remember that we aren't the only people interested in this game.

SpookyDude unlocked the infinite content glitch

32:30 if this happens that would SUCK. George R.R. Martin once talked about this, changing your story just because the fans predicted the twist is a horrible idea

13:44 the knight is actually much much more closer to D&Ds Boneclaw, a type of failed lich that cannot intelligibly speak, and can transform into shadowy shapes to get around faster.

Toby right now: Oh no, I don't think the fandom is going to like grandpa tenna... He might just be another spamton/tenna clo-
The fandom in a year: OHH YAY ANOTHER ONE AND.... HE'S! OLD! GYAH HAH HAH

Regarding the third sanctuary having tons of copies of the prophecy panels in the background, consider that that's the main hall of the church, it could just be a representation of how many copies of the prayerbook are in there.

34:00 it’s important to remember that the term ‘freedom motif’ was coined entirely by the fan base (I’m pretty sure Andrew Cunningham came up with it iirc) and it has never been referred to as such in any official capacity. Therefore using the song in theories directly linking it to freedom has no precedent in the actual story and means nothing. The use (or absence) of the freedom motif is obviously important in some way, but not in showing if someone has ‘freedom’ or not.

20:14 Come to think of it, spamton being the elemental type puppet/cat also ties him to Friend/cats...

I think my personal big problem with the theory at 26:30 is that a big part of the immersion that dr/ut achieve is based on the fact that while their worlds don't shy away from clearly being video games that you're playing from an outside perspective through your computer, it's very important that the characters simply don't perceive it that way at all.
If someone straight up said "I know I'm in a video game" or "We gotta get into The Code™" that would honestly be extremely immersion breaking cuz, from the perspective of the characters, it really should not be something noticeable. These games do a great job at making everyone react very realistically to being in a "lesser reality" of sorts, treating all your meta powers like some kind of black magic or mythology. If anyone besides maybe like gaster had a straight up "just monika" moment, then the game's world would immediately become way less unique cuz that kind of self awareness really isn't anything new compared to the game's current relationship with being a game.

35:03 The "freedom motif" name is something the community came up with, right? So surely it's connection to the idea of freedom is entirely arbitrary and was based on the fact that jevil's and spamton's stories revolved around freedom.

@27:26-.+The Titan has very obvious angelic imagery, so I would so I would think the argument would be the angel circle thingy is the Titan, or that specifically the angel wings are the Titan. That would be cleaner.

I disagree with any theory that relies on the Weird Route being the one where you follow the Prophecy.

At the end of Chapter 4 in the Weird Route, Ralsei worries that avoiding the prophecised ending may be "even worse" than allowing it to come to fruition. I can't see any reading of that dialogue that doesn't involve the Weird Route breaking the Prophecy in a bad way.

40:00 I personally think the weird route is all about BREAKING the prophecy than following it. Spamton has dialogue in the weird route suggesting that we are doing this so we can achieve freedom. Achieving freedom by following fate doesn't make much sense
