I have 20+ years experience with cockatoos; keeping, training - even running a rescue. You - sir - are an amazing cockatoo keeper. I applaud the way you interact with him and keep him entertained. Thank you for sharing:)

People need to know that you don’t just shuffle birds around like furniture. They have REAL feelings. They truly bond with people and so on. I’ve had my African Grey since she was weaned for 23 years. We adore each other. Max is beautiful!

Dan I just want to let you know what an amazing person you are for saving Max's  life.  It takes really special people to step up and care for these animals, let alone dedicate their lives to it. The world needs more people like you.

Owners don't always pick the pet. Sometimes it's the pet that picks the owner.

You know a cockatoo is well taken care of when it has all it's feathers.

I am very glad you took Max.  I can’t believe your “friend” made you pay for him after you were kind enough to keep him while he was away.  Thank you for your kindness in taking him into your home and for all of the sacrifices you make.  God bless you for your good heart, friend.  Max is a joy to watch!  Thank you for sharing him with us here!

This man has a heart of gold.  Anyone would be lucky to have him as a significant other.  God bless him and his little bird.  Wish there were more people like this.

Max is surrounded with love. He has a great Dad too.

the sweetest thing is him whispering back to you. One of my cats has PTSD from a former abusive boyfriend and he has nightmares. He growls and cries in his sleep so from a little distance (without touching him) I say out loud "it's mommy, it's okay, Peanut wake up". Once he wakes up and realizes that I'm calling to him then he's okay. It's terrible that our animal babies go through this but it's comforting to know that we can help them :)

You’re a good daddy to Max.

Tears!, when you said the cage had dents from his former owner hitting it to shut him up!, I thought about his frustration in wanting to be with you, it's very sad!..I'm glad you rescued him!..

I felt so sad when  you talked  about  how unhappy  Max was with  his  previous  owner. He's  a very  lucky  boy to now be with  someone  who  loves  and cares  for him so much. Lots  of  love to both of you

I hate that his previous owner sold him to you! He should have give him to you considering that you looked after him for six months; and would come by to feed and play with him after the guy got 😡. Moluccans are drama queens and the more you yell at them, the more they scream back. I got cheated on a goffin cockatoo-paid him 600$ and then he decided to give him to a rescue before I got paid again but I'm happy that I got Dexter. I'm very glad that you have Max; you two seem very happy that fate put you together!

Pet birds are a big commitment. You're a good man. Thank you for sharing..

I believe Moluccan cockatoos are still the number one throw away bird. Please adopt don’t shop! Thank you so much Dan for devoting your life to this little boy.💕

You had me at "I'd prefer that people don't send us donations because we're ok and I'd rather they sent the money to a foundation that cares for birds". On a platform where so many are out for themselves, this is very comforting to hear. Bravo! :)
I've worked as a volunteer wildlife rescuer in my free time for a long time and it's heart warming to see the amount of care and devotion you exhibit towards your little friend. Sending you very positive vibes! :)

Max is lucky to be with you.

Dan is the ultimate bird dad.

Dan: Is Max jealous? No.
Max: I'm gonna destroy this green paper that draws Dan's attentions.
