MARSEILLE — Filth, Rats, and Crime. The Most Dangerous City in France
My name is Nikita, and in this video, I travel to one of France's most controversial cities to see for myself whether Marseille really is the most dangerous city in France, or if its grandiose name conceals a completely different reality.
From the very first minutes, you'll see the real Marseille: dirt, garbage, rats on the streets, crime-ridden neighborhoods, migrant quarters, and the constant presence of police and military personnel. The Old Port, Saint-Charles Station, the northern districts of Marseille, the metro, and streets devoid of tourists—all of this creates the image of a city rarely spoken about honestly. Here, luxury yachts coexist with slums, a tourist hub with red zones where it's unsafe even during the day.
In the video, I explain in detail why Marseille is called the most dangerous city in France, show you areas you shouldn't go to, and discuss gangs, drug trafficking, street crime, and the real situation in the city. You'll see life in Marseille today: smells, garbage, rats, homeless people, street vendors, graffiti, and an atmosphere of constant tension.
But Marseille isn't just dirt and crime. The video shows the city's other side: the old port, the sea, the islands, the food, the restaurants, the cozy streets, and moments that unexpectedly break the mold. This episode is an honest travel report and an attempt to answer the main question:
Is Marseille dirt, rats, and crime, or is it a vibrant and authentic French city?
