Carnivores: HELL YEAH! FREE MEAT!
Herbivores: HELL YEAH! FREE FARM CROPS!
Sealife: guys what’s going on up there

The vulture populations must be crazy. The ones that are endangered in real life because of human activity would make a great comeback in numbers.

I'm so glad Animals or anything like Ants aren't able to be turned, imagine Wild Fire Turned Ants or Another Insects bugging us

You VASTLY underestimate how dangerous cows are. A motivated bull could alone turn a small horde into red mist. While obviously many can't breed without human intervention and many more would be locked up and died of starvation, there would likely be herds thousands strong in the plains which no horde could realistically take down without losing the majority of its members.

Dogs, pigs and bears have a higher acidity stomach acid. They routinely consume rotten meat without issue, I think we’ve seen the walking dead don’t rott in a normal way

The wild boar population would likely tear through undead populations in rural areas.

Also, in terms of the dogs, they can certainly tell the difference between walkers and humans, that’s why in a lot of undead media they always freak out when the dead is close by, like instinct is telling them that they’re bad. As far as that pack of dogs go in season 5, they most likely confident against the group because not only have they turned feral but they’re prob in hunger mode which makes them more desperate for food because it’s prob just as hard for them to find food as it would be for us.

Man Shiva would have been a MAJOR threat if she was able to turn..

I always figured ezekials horse fell ill to some other infection gained from the bite. Walker saliva most certainly contains all sorts of nasty stuff other than wildfire.

So many animals like feral dogs, bears and others wildlife who escaped from the zoos would play a major role in wiping out the walkers. The walkers are most dangerous in numbers, but could be picked apart and even outnumbered if packs of different animals were attacking them from different angles all at once.

In the original Dead Island game, there was a reanimated animal mentioned but it wasn't seen in the game. Even some survivors tell the player that they wouldn't risk hunting for food because they don't know if the wildlife is also infected. Though I hope AMC doesn't introduce reanimated wildlife. The variant walkers were enough.

If a human bit you to the point it broke skin and caused a pretty gnarly injury...the bacteria in the teeth alone will cause a terrible, likely fatal, infection if not probably treated. It's not that the bite is fatal due to the virus...it's because it's a petri dish of bad crap brewing and festering.

I had an idea for a zombie story where warm blooded animals could be targeted by zombies but cold blooded animals were almost like repellent to zombies or least zombies didn’t like them.

Zombies became the least of the problems because alligators would eat the zombies which were easy targets for them. The alligators grew bigger over the years and lost any fear of humans. From eating the zombies it caused the alligators to have a bite that can turn a person into a zombie.

Well bears and dogs have strong digestive systems Also Snatch was real in that pigs will eat a body, they wont eat a live moving body and no walkers to test

If only humans turn but all mammals are infected, it could mean Wildfire requires human-specific muscles and/or chemicals in our brains to initiate the resurrection process. Which could then further point towards Wildfire being artificially created as a biological weapon.

I really appreciate it when an apocalyptic scenario explores how life OTHER than humans are affected by it. Opens the door to so much more expansive world-building that way. ^^

Wild hogs should have and could have been a much bigger threat on the show. Those things breed like a plague and given enough time there could be literal hordes of those things rolling around. Hundreds of pounds of muscle and meat with huge tusks and a violent temperament.

YES!!! One of my favorite aspects on any apocalypse-type story is how the environment and fauna endures the end of the world, as well evolving to survive it.

I don't think people give feral livestock and poultry enough credit. It can't be too hard for a herd of feral cows to outmaneuver a horde of zombies, or trample them if push came to shove. Also, they eat grass. As for chickens, they roost in trees to avoid predators if they can. So, they shouldn't have too much trouble avoiding zombies.

There would be an initial die off as feed lots and factory farms are abandoned. Certain breeds would fair better than others in the wild, but that's true of dogs isn't?

I'm just saying, both animals are a lot smarter and adaptable than most people give them credit for. I can see them surviving a world over run by zombies.

Edit: Also, as numbers go there are over 20 billion chickens worldwide. Statistically, a large number of chickens will survive the zombie apocalypse.

Bears should live even better in this world than they do in ours.

They LITERALLY love carrion.

So much so that you'd sooner smell a bear than see it, because it stinks of rotting meat.

That's why walkers theoretically shouldn't attack them.
