the kid wearing the mask was way ahead of his time

The song was recorded with no intention of being released due to copyright, by chance it was leaked to Jacksons management that played him the song, Michael loved it and agreed they could release it and then they filmed the video

MJ was so chill for approving this 😂

Definitely top 5 covers of all time. Could even be the best. What a tune.

Don’t cry because this era is gone..
be proud you were a part of it

Kudos to the kid dancing in the mask. He knew what was coming.

This isn't just an MJ cover, it's a tribute. The Lean, Bubbles, a dancing kid, the werewolf mask, a light-up sidewalk, a bunch of signature MJ moments are in here.

I miss MTV with music like this 🥲

One of the cleanest covers of all time. Paid deep respect to the original artist while weaving in their own sound. This is how it should be done.

The only acceptable remake of the original song.

nah Annie ain't okay. she sustained a whiplash ever since she headbanged the shit outta this cover.

If anyone young is curious what being a millennial is/was like, they should watch this. This is it. Absurdism, lack of inhibition, unapologetically being yourself, and talent. This type of crowd in the video is what neighborhoods were like. Garage bands, random dances, hanging out on the lawn…truly awesome!

Im 41, will be 42 in a couple days and i still remember this song and getting up on the roof of a 1996 ford tempo and reenacting 2:11 in my twenties

still in these days, goes hard as fuck

This is one of the best covers to ever exist. EVER.

The bassist is playing+singing+dancing and MJing all at same time.

This music video with the song captures the early 2000's very well. This is actually how it felt.

The rare cover that went in a completely different direction and still works

the golden days of turning on the radio and hearing a hit no matter the genre.

Jackson was so chill with all his music, if you asked him if you could parody, or cover his songs the answer was likely yes.
There is an interview, where he says "Alien Ant Farm did Annie better than me."
