how to cut a Stylish cooperate blouse
MATERIALS & TOOLS
Fabric (crepe, suiting, gabardine, or scuba for structure)
Lining or interfacing (very important for blazer look)
Tailor’s chalk
Pattern paper (or cut directly on fabric)
Measuring tape
Scissors
Ruler & curve
REQUIRED MEASUREMENTS
Bust
Waist
Hip
Shoulder
Blouse length (front & back)
Bust point
Neck depth
Sleeve length (optional)
✂️ STEP 1: CUT THE UPPER BODICE (BLAZER BLOUSE BASE)
Fold fabric face-to-face.
Mark:
Shoulder line
Neck width (3–3.5")
Neck depth (5–7" for corporate neckline)
Bust line
Waist line
Draft princess dart or waist dart for a fitted blazer look.
Shape armhole slightly deeper than normal blouse.
Cut front and back bodice separately.
Princess dart gives a more tailored, blazer-style finish.
STEP 2: CUT THE BASQUE (PEPLUM) PART
Measure waistline of the upper bodice.
Decide basque length (6–9").
For asymmetrical hemline:
Left side: shorter
Right side: longer
Draw a smooth slant curve from short side to long side.
Add flare:
Slight A-line or half-circle basque
Cut 2 pieces (front & back).
STEP 3: CREATE THE ASYMMETRICAL EFFECT
Mark the asymmetry only on the basque, not the bodice.
Ensure side seams still align.
Blend hem curve smoothly to avoid sharp edges.
STEP 4: STYLISH CORPORATE NECKLINE OPTIONS
Choose one elegant neckline:
✔ Notched Blazer Neckline
Extend center front by 1.5–2"
Mark lapel angle
Cut facing separately
✔ Asymmetrical Neckline
Raise one side neckline
Lower the other side by 1–1.5"
Add interfacing for structure
✔ V-Neck with Panel Insert
Cut V-shape
STEP 5: INTERFACING & LINING
Interface:
Neckline
Lapel
Basque waist join
Optional lining for premium blazer finish.
STEP 6: SEWING PROCESS (SUMMARY)
Sew darts/princess seams.
Join shoulder seams.
Attach sleeves
