Fils of joy is also the colourful way of calling the children product of unmarried couples or from casual encounters. And this I think is the twist that the author wanted to recall with the name

I adore Fils de Joie. I love it. I think this is the best thing I've gotten my nose on in the past 20 years, maybe 30. And I have collected many many fragrances! Thank you for this beautiful review

The drydown of Fils de Joie reminds so much of Muscs Kublai Khan. I'll have to smell Salomé again to see if it has similar musky drydown.

Hi Flo, I am also quite curious about the name of that fragrance. Fils can mean « son » or « wires » in French. But I think there might be a pun with the expression « fille de joie » which prostitute/ whore in French. Fils = son, Fille = daughter, girl. And hearing your review when you mention the sensuality of this scent, that pun might be the explanation .

This is such an amazing fragrance that as soon as I smelled it I bought a backup bottle because it's getting much more difficult to find. Luckily the "body odor" aspect of this is very minor to my nose (although I do perceive it slightly and it only makes the fragrance more interesting). 😄 Lovely review and glad you found some!

May I suggest you try Guerlain Nerolia Vetiver Harvest. That, for me is the best honey I have ever smelt. It really is light and deep and pollen and animatic. It blows Lutens out of the water. Please try.
