Pringles (Crisps) tube with tissue paper is what I use for a diffuser. Best way I saved money.   I also use the OM5 with the 60mm macro lens and the adapter you mentioned and get a lot of good shots. Normally I stick with flowers are they don't move on me.
Thanks to both you and Lee Hall for the inspiration. Appreciate all your ideas and videos.

I jumped into the deep end right away. I bought my first real camera gear last year: OM-1 Mark II, OM System 90mm f/3.5 Macro PRO, Godox v860IIIO flash, MC-14 1.4x teleconverter, Raynox 250, AK diffuser. I wound up having to buy an OM System flash because the Godox has no weather sealing, and I have shot macro in the rain. I don't own a nifty fifty, and I mostly shoot macro, so this rig works great for me.

Good video Stewart and lots of info. thanks for sharing.

Fantastic work Stewart, going to make a massive effort for Macro this year. Keep up the good work mate.

Great vide9. I have the OM-1 Mkii and the 90mm f3.5 Macro I also have the 50-200 which gives me a macro when using the MC-20. I’m now spending more time on macro and between you and Lee, you are both helping my journey.

Thank you, Stuart. I was at the photo of showi in Newport Saturday and I seen your presentation. I'm a beginner and am looking into doing some Macro  photography. Thanks for sharing

Godox v480o flash is brill esp with a KRDiffuser from Kev Russell. His diffusers are hand made to fit specific Olympus lens and Godox or OM flash combinations and a LOT cheaper than other well known make and very sturdy too

Nice one Stewart thanks again 👍🏻

nice

Well done! :)

Great video!

Great Video

Hi Stewart,  Oh I'm primarily a macro shooter. And I've met you in the chats before on Allan Walls' live streams. Your advice here for people just starting in macro, was great. Especially on the Diffuser. I've made my own for 35 years, with a variety of effectivenesses, and I bought an AK-DIFFUSER back 3 years ago. Best piece of macro gear I ever bought. And realistically cheapest. I used Tamrac bags for 35 years, and when I got the AK-DIFFUSER  after 5 months of carrying the pouch for the diffuser separately,  I bought a backpack. I'm still not happy with the layout compared to a Tamrac, but the laptop compartment is perfect for my AK-DIFFUSER.
And yes, you are right. If I was just starting out in Macro, Olympus is the right macro road. But I've got a lot of sets of bellows and flashes and Macro lenses and extention tubes in Nikon, so Im going to stay on the Nikon path. Besides, as everyone migrates to mirrorless, or Olympus, all the old Nikon macro accessories in F mount will flood the market and drop a little in price. A very little. So I'll snag them up. Olympus has really picked up the macro ball that Nikon has dropped. Perhaps if I was in my 20's, 30's, or 40's, I'd just switch to Olympus OM, but I'm in my 60's, so I'll  "Stay on the same horse". Anyway, I really enjoy your videos! Best Regards, Dave.

Great info Stewart. Hybrid, hobbyist - A7R5/Sony 90mm f2.8 macro/Flashpoint MF-12 flash and trigger. I started macro with the 55mm 1.8 and extension tubes but went to the real lens soon. I'd love to add the OM-1 setup you describe, but $$. Additional expenses include software and computer capable of huge stacks. That's another situation that I have not made perfect yet. Thanks for your work.

Great video.  I’ve always like macro but if I am really honest did not fully understand how to get the images like the ones you highlighted.  Plus I am very novice on using flash.  This video has given me the push to go out and try it.

5:41 I actually prefer doing close-up/macro insect photography at full bright sunny days.

Ik bought this year the Sont a7r VI and the Sony 100mm macro lens. I like little bugs.

Nice video. In my case I am moving to a dedicated setup. I got a Sony a6700 and I am looking for a macro lens.

Well a bit more then half way there Olympus EM1 M3 and the 60mm lens just sorting out my lighting do have Godox flash but do need to upgrade for faster recycle and more flashes for stacking
