It's a trick. In 1998 they produce in USA with production cost about 80$ out of 100$ price. Now it is China and Mexico with the cost 50$ out of 130$ price. Same thing with LEVI'S: 1980 it was 80/100,  2010 it become 20/100

Buying a Surge at full price because I thought I was buying American made, only to get Made in China with terrible fit and finish is exactly why I switched to a full sized Swisstool.

Marketing and Brand guys are the bane of large companies. Guys that started out as graphic designers and are now in charge of product development and production.

If the wages fall behind the inflation, the products get more expensive even if the price adjusted for inflation comes out the same..
In the US the consumer price index from 2021-2025 has risen by 22.7% while the average real hour earnings lowered by -0.7%.

The inflation argument is valid, but pretty much gaslighting for all people who do not understand macro economics. XD

Charge G10 is my work daily, and I grab any Charges I see in the secondary.

You definitely drank the Koolaid brother

Stick with the excellent quality control and accessories of the past and just increase with inflation.  The buyers will understand and prefer the better products

An interesting point is Leatherman USA leave all brand promotion (advertising) to their distributors. They always have been a wholesaler first and foremost. While they do sell direct on their website for full MSRP, they want their resellers to pull their weight. A $99 MSRP tool at Cabela's is being wholesale for $35

In the $35 book, between his newfound motivational business speaker schtick, did Tim give any reason why the pliers heads and files can’t be made in the States? Or why they can’t use a knife steel that’s produced domestically?

👍🏼
I’ve never owned a leatherman 🤷‍♂️🙂

I think the Charge Plus is peak leatherman!

Regardless of my love for leatherman and my personal history with leatherman I cannot afford them, I am Australian a leatherman wave+ retails for around th $400AU mark the Arc around $800. No multitool is worth that money and that is all there is to it. I still have my OG PST bought in 1984-5 (I can’t remember exactly I’m getting old). But my new multitools are the clones I’m afraid I picked up a surge clone from Daicamping for $48 there’s no comparison, and I wish there was….

Man I agree on the charge.  Ive got a blacked out charge plus. Its excellent for my fire service job.  The gut hook is an amazing seatbelt cutter , and i keep a glass breaker in the flat bit driver. Excellent quality.

The Micra is their longest running tool.  Which means R&D on it have long since been paid for.  So why is it $50 now?

Sold a 35 dollar to give yall answers!?!?! Profit margins win again

I got mine on Thursday. I like it 😊

yes we love tim leatherman haha

Ayo me and my brother love this channel!! It’s an honour and privilege my friend.

I use a Skeletool CX.  Nothing I am seeing here encourages me to update / change.

I like the wooden Charge, my daily choice is the titan one.
