I'm 41 now, and I used to live at the arcade chugging in quarters to play this game at my local arcade when I was a kid.  Taught myself how to do air combos and corner infinites (Cyclops primarily), this was before the age of youtube, tutorial videos, and the internet, really.

You can really date the game by Birdy's appearance, she basically disappeared from the comics for over 20 years until she, like every other X-Character came back for Krakoa. Outside of this one game she's obscure as fuck.

Her power is telepathic emotional manipulation, which she used to sooth Sabretooth's homicadal rage. He was devasted when she died because it meant he would revert back to a feral killer beast

I love Sagat's face in Magneto's ending. He's just "Oh. Okay."

I love seeing Sabertooth in a suit. It's so menacing to see that: "Oh! He's a psychopath by choice!"😮

Rogue's voice actress still dubs her to this day. (Lenore Zann)
She also dubs Birdy
A good video to know more about the series: The INSANE Origins of Marvel vs Capcom

Shoutout to Jim Lee for establishing this X-men design that turned out classic

Damn this content is crisp. Shoutouts to the Capcom Devs for showing these characters love in their own way back in the day and shoutouts to you dude for educating a lot of people who were curious about the references.

I love how Gambit’s just kinda there in Storm’s endings for some reason

People today don't realize how cool this game was. I remember seeing it for the 1st time at a K-Mart arcade. It blew me away! I had previously played COTA and MSH in arcades, and was excited to see Gambit, Rogue, and especially Sabretooth!

The optic blasts are nice and what not, but I need an explanation for why Cyclops alone has a double jump and the other x-men who have ways to move themselves mid-air without projectiles do not.

You have to know, there's a man niknamed Blackjugger. He's beyond crazy in this game.

13:17 something to mention: Bone Claws Wolverine on MVC2 was based on this Wolverine.

Weirdly, Gambit's first appearance in the video is his first PUBLISHED appearance... but story-wise, his introduction came next month (in Uncanny 266). It was a publishing error that had the Annual come out prior.

The perfect blend of knowledge and swag

Love the nods to X-Men Mutant Academy 2 and Next Dimension.

This is such a well-made video that it's honestly incredible, especially the last one about the street fighter characters.

amazing editing

The production value of this video is great. Amazing job
