Nah that's crazy, 100% already

@Moosenthusiast 1 year ago

they didn't change the delivery of "Ruuuun while you can" so its a 10/10 remaster

Hearing you describe the old leveling system was like recitation of old magicks. I’m 31 now and remember slowly piecing together the leveling system as a kid and gathering that there was an “optimal” way of getting my guy as strong as possible. 2 Xbox 360’s died in the pursuit of this power. From this, a min/maxer was born!

Your body is a machine that turns video games into 100% reviews.

Imagine a dev emailing Mort for a review key and he replies, “nah I’ve already 100% it”. Not necessarily for this game, but it has to have happened at some point.

Still my favorite intereactuon is an inn patron stopped Lucian Lechance as he was leaving and invisible to tell him "They say uf you murder someone the Dark Brotherhood visits you in your sleep"

Nice to see Mortym doing a 100% review for a game that means so much to him <3

I came here as a new Oblivion player, stopped after I got out of the dungeon. Thank you for this review!

I played countless hrs in this game as a teen and young adult. And the leveling system costed me so so much time on restarts. So glad they fixed that.

Oblivion was the first game I bought with my own money. I think I was 15 at the time. So the remaster was particularly special for me. I find it amazing that they captured the original experience and yet made it feel fresh and new.

I always felt that the original Oblivion was weaker compared to Morrowind and Skyrim due to its horrendous leveling and scaling issues. I am happy to say now that the improvements made in the remaster have it to sit solidly alongside those greats in my mind.

19:39 I do an almost yearly playthrough of the mainline elder scrolls games, and oblivion has always been the biggest chore of them all just because of the leveling system. This remaster is making me appreciate the game so much more than I used to.

Back then, it was Oblivion who introduced me into the world of open world rpgs with sandbox elements. I have fond memories of it and a couple of weeks ago I installed my old copy again to start a new run. Funny that shortly after Bethesda shadowdropped a remaster. For me it was a logical step to abandon my current save game to buy the remaster and restart my adventure there.

Of course, the remaster has some (technical) issues and even though some gameplay improvements are not fully thought and fleshed out, it's still a very fun experience and it's overall better than the original release. I'm glad it exists.

Thank you for your in-depth review. Cheers!

Can't wait to see you review Skyblivion!!!

I recently subbed and just wanted to say: you literally hit on every note I personally need to hear ever single review. Sooooo many ppl, journalists, whatever do this kind of stuff - and after I watch I still didn't get a single answer on actual mechanics or what the gameplay loop is. You do. Thank you.

Oblivion was my first TES game back in 06 and it changed my little kid idea of what gaming could entail. I never really returned to it cause Skyrim felt cleaner and Morrowind is just a weird one of a kind experience. This Remaster is quite exceptional, really good balance of modernity and keeping the soul of the OG. I think what they did w/ this dual engine thing is kind of a stroke of genius we could/ or at least should, see more of.

That place at min 48:28 is the start of my TES journey back in 2008, how many adventures I had since then, especially with modded Skyrim but also ESO and Oblivion and modded Morrowind, HUGE nostalgia hit! I remeber getting out of the sewers was a big HOLY SHEET moment as I didn`t expect a map so big back then
