I Spent the Night on Japan's Cheapest Capsule Train 😴

Today I rode Japan's cheapest overnight sleeper train, the Sunrise Izumo, from Osaka to Tokyo.

One thing I was really looking forward to was trying the shower on board, but unfortunately I couldn't get a shower ticket. Maybe next time!

Despite that, I had one of the best sleeps I've had while traveling. Unlike an overnight bus, the bed was completely flat, the ride was smooth, and the rainy weather outside made the journey feel calm and relaxing.

After doing my research I came to a conclusion.
It's not the train that is important but quality of co passengers that is more important in a journey.

I've taken this train a few times from Tokyo to Matsue in Shimane and back. I've always taken the capsule option since private rooms book up quickly. It has always been a lovely ride and you get to meet lots of cool people who are your bunk mates. I hope you enjoyed your trip!

You can chill in the common area and use the room only to sleep. I like this train

I love train rides. The only sad part is heading back from your day trip, and wait in line to go back on the train; but I feel like that I would sleep better on the train than I do in my own bed

Thank you so much for sharing your trip. I can't travel now because of family circumstances and I really-really miss it. I also been dreaming to visit Japan for many years. At least I can have a glimpse of it and enjoy the scenery from your perspective (internet is a great thing, you know, haha). I hope you keep posting in the future!
