Monster Hunter Outlanders brings the Monster Hunter experience to mobile, but there is a lot more going on here than simply putting Monster Hunter on a phone.

I’ve been playing the Monster Hunter Outlanders Closed Beta Test, and in this video I’m breaking down everything you need to know before release: the hunting experience, mobile controls, weapons, Adventurers, Buddies, exploration across Aesoland, Radiant Species, the Building System, traversal tools, multiplayer features, and what the game actually feels like after spending time with it myself.
One of my biggest takeaways is how approachable Outlanders feels. The controls are simplified enough to make Monster Hunter easier for new players to get into, while the different weapons still retain their own mechanics, playstyles and identity.
We’ll also take a look at Palicoes, Trillan, Rutaco, launchers, ziplines, gliders, ecosystem interactions, returning monsters and some of the unique ideas Outlanders brings to the series.
Monster Hunter Outlanders supports real-time online co-op for up to four players, including Co-op Skills, persistent parties and Adventure Groups. I wasn’t able to properly test multiplayer during this Closed Beta, so that section is based on the officially confirmed feature set rather than pretending I’ve tested something I haven’t.

I have seen nay-sayers saying this is not a Monster Hunter game, and I say otherwise.
When World came out years ago, old schoolers like me had an almost completely different experience altogether. But hey, IT IS MONSTER HUNTER. I can say the same for this upcoming title.
For someone who barely has the time now to sit on my console and PC, having the opportunity to play the game on the go without bringing extra gadgets is a treat.

I’ve genuinely had a lot of fun with Outlanders so far. One of the things I like most is how it makes Monster Hunter easier to get into while still giving the different weapons their own identity and playstyle.
