What's inside Swan Song, the controversial new memoir by the 9th Earl Spencer?
Though ostensibly a tribute to his sister, Princess Diana, the book is now more famous for whom its writer chose to attack. From members of the royal family, who are variously portrayed as scroungers and sociopaths, to the press which is described as a pack of famished Hyenas, there are many who feel the wrath of Charles Spencer’s pen.
Hasan Ali is joined by royal expert Hugo Vickers, who breaks down the claims in this extraordinary new book.

The king is a complicated person in many respects. How could he not be. His treatment of Diana does not play well. It wasn’t what it could have been. Nor does the marriage with three people in it. It is a tragedy, no matter how you look at it. I understand Earl Spencer’s grief. I lost my only sister to cancer in 1999. I still grieve in ways many don’t understand. Grief is very personal.
