Some of the most famous figures in Chile and the Americas have posed before his camera, and his photos of Allende, Neruda, and Victor Jara are now part of the history books. In fact, you may have seen a few photos by Luis Poirot without even knowing he was the photographer. This includes one he took of Jordi Pujol, which the then-President of the Generalitat of Catalonia didn't appreciate at all.

During our trip to Santiago, Chile, we were able to visit Poirot's studio and, surrounded by books, photos, and cameras, chat with him about history, portraiture, his more than half-century of experience, exile, life in Barcelona, and his upcoming projects.
