The cut to the sandals:   1)  She's observant.  2)  He's in a position where he doesn't need to follow the rules.

Years later. I still think this is one of the greates movies ever made.

Her boss did everything but say "Don't fucking do it," out loud, and she didn't pick up on it at all.

I always think of Benicio as "Sleepy Brad Pitt" 😂

As soon as she saw the flip-flops she knew he was CIA, not that the "permanent Casual Friday" look wasn't a hint.

we need more art with josh and benicio working together.

One of the last scenes of the movie was sad - The kid in Mexico, who just wanted to play football with his dad (the cop on the cartel’s payroll) but realized something bad had happened when his dad wasn’t in his bed and probably not coming home.

“El Paso area” 😂. Poor woman.

8:44 the shaking hand, the ominous low pitch sound that is almost like a woman screaming, and jolting awake is intense. Especially after what we learn about Alejandro's family from Matt.

Alejandro slept so deeply is because he knows how safe it is off the ground on the private plane with no enemy. The guy probably spent most of his sleeping life with one eye open

When Benicio del Toro  sits across from you on your private flight and ask "have you been to Juarez?" when you thought you were going to El Paso get off the flight immediately.

This was an exceptional film. The cinematography and the film score were so effective in conveying a sense of dread and pent up anger and violence. The acting was superb, especially Emily Blunt and Benicio del Toro. Denis Villeneuve is one of my favourite directors. His films are relatively accessible yet if you’re watching carefully they are full of symbolism and subtle foreshadowing.

For now, let’s just keep an eye on the time
That line always gets me.

Alejandro lives a living nightmare... you can hear her little girl's screams while he sleeps and all of a sudden he wakes up from the harsh reality he has to endure.

The slow transition from the sounds of the equipment in the cockpit and engine noises to the screams of his wife and daughter being killed in his dreams is so terrifyingly subtle.

Whoa, I just realized that the scene with the father being woken up by his son is foreshadowing for what actually happens to that character later on. The shot pans across his hand and cuts to his sleeping or "lifeless" body, and when the boy calls his father's name and nudges him, he doesn't really physically respond at first. Chilling and sad.

Every scene in this movie was a masterpiece.

This dialogue, interaction, is what the sequel (Day of the Soldado) lacked. This is a MASTERPIECE!!!

man oh man, Josh Brolin is a good actor ... the subtleties with his facial expressions is real acting

8:40 ive watched this movie atleast 3 times and now for some reason I am just now realizing for the first time the noises of the jets engines slowly morphs into the sound of female voices screaming foreshadowing Benicios characters horrifying past with his family being brutally killed. such a good movie
