Why Stop The Rumbling?

When discussing something like The Rumbling, I try to avoid making blanket 'right or wrong' statements. It’s far too subjective. Which is why in this video, I focus more on some of the characters’ perspectives surrounding The Rumbling. Why they feel and act the way they do, and what the story has shown us that makes these decisions believable. I specifically chose perspectives that aren't discussed very often.

Although I originally planned to include more about Eren, his motivations are more complicated, so I’m saving him for a future analysis. That video will focus on him and Reiner, exploring the similarities they share.

Short answer, OG Scouts were built different. Floch and 99.9% of the “Scouts” that joined after him would’ve joined the Garrison or MPs if they’d applied a couple years beforehand.

That Jean connection was actually amazing. By the end of AoT he was my favourite character because he was the most relatable personally. He always saw both sides, knowing what he wants to do and what needs to be done but even then, that connection between his choice as why he actually fought Eren in the end made me love him even more, I never saw it that way. It's also why I love this story, because it has so many little connections like this that no matter how hard you try to analyse each character etc, there will always be others to find these parallels even after all these years.

One person that I think had the biggest impact with their death has to be Erwin. He would have been able to control both eren and the people. Mostly because he has years of prep to accept the idea that the real enemy was other people for years

I think is impressive that a story made it so is equally wrong to say "Eren had to do the Rumbling" as to say "The Rumbling was wrong", like Eren had no other choice that he wold be able to live with, but regret doing so much that he smiles while his head is being cut.

Hange and Jean represent what it means for the scout. Badge to be passed down regardless of how horrific, cruel and tragic and hopeless the world has turned out to be

It's rare to see such a thoughtful analysis of this. The series spends several story arcs to show you that good and bad are subject to narrative and perspective, but it seems to fly over most people's heads. When the time comes to put that knowledge in practice, they still plant their feet on one of the "this is the good side" camps and yell insults to the other side.
However, you'll be glad to know that you're wrong. Jean is hardly underrated, he's a favorite character for many in a world full of brilliantly written characters. If anything is underrated here, it's your channel.

The rumbling was made a necessary for Paradis’ survival due to how little the world cared for them. It’s one of the worst most vile things ever, and the fault of the 1% controlling the rhetoric of division. The story basically just became genocide vs. genocide.

Another brilliant piece about the overall story is the theme that humanity will always have conflict with one another. Think about it, the ending is controversial and the fandom is pretty divided on how we feel abt the rumbling. People have genuine debates and arguments over it. This in itself just further proves the overarching theme of how humanity will always have conflict. Absolutely beautiful and masterful storytelling at its finest.

Jean is a hero, in the truest sense of the word. His has a low opinion of himself, so his insecurities makes him think selfishly, but ultimately his heart will always choose to put others before him, even if it doesn't make sense logically. Marco saw this before anyone, even us readers/viewers.

We need to be more like Jean.

2:23 shit I’m from California (grew up poor with harsh childhood so maybe that influenced but) it was pretty easy to see where the hate came from and honest I think the outside world was written sadly it’s ugly but it’s true of humanity
