A massive flash flood has struck the Budhi Gandaki River in Lokpa, Ward 6, Chumnubri Rural Municipality, Gorkha, after a dry landslide blocked the river. The incident occurred around 4 AM on Sunday, triggering fear among local residents. According to Chief Administrative Officer Narayan Prasad Sapkota, the river continues to be blocked and released intermittently, causing repeated surges of floodwater. Reports indicate that houses in the riverbank areas of Jagat may have been swept away. The flood is carrying huge boulders and could cause further destruction downstream. Residents have been urged to move to safer, higher ground, while security personnel remain on alert. Authorities have warned that areas toward Dharche and Arughat could also face danger. People living along the river are urged to remain highly vigilant.
