Huge thank you. Finally got around to taking old tapes and put them on a pc to save for history and to share with family. I got the same error message followed your video and took it apart pulled the cables out put them back in put the camera back together and the camera works again. Putting the videos on my pc now with no issues. Couldn't have done this without your help! Thank you
I've sent a bunch of people in the direction of your channel, I also posted to advertise your channel on a Facebook group called electronics hobbyists, there's 31k members in that, hope you reach the million soon, anything that encourages you to make more content is a worthy cause! Thaks for the videos and the inspiration you gave me.
1:27 I close the cover on these very gently, and often leave it open if I can. The flexicable tends to split and then you lose the top panel controls including eject which isn't available on the remote, so you have to replace it. I've also had lots of lower connector problems with these things, and they are a pain to work on.
Another ill camera lives again :-D Looks spot on now dave, the owner should be very happy :-D Larger cables have the same problem, there is a dent in the ribbon created by the contacts in the connector. I turn the ribbon over and roll a metal tube over the dents to push them out a bit. Clean the pits of the dents with switch cleaner and scrape with a needle. If the ribbon end is long then cut 1mm off it so the connector pins contacts with a new bit of the ribbon. All very obvious but someone may find it usefull.
I have a TRV-120 and it was a great camera, i made till many professionals videos because be better than VHS camera quality. And the internal microphone of this camera is best, high quality stereo and super hight quality on high volume sound, like a music show, no distort, never. Loved. The TRV-130 down many features of the 120, TRV130 arrived with smaller sensor and without manual focus on the front ring.
Off subject question? I have a Sony DCR TRV720 Camcorder, where the LCD Screen has a double or split image when turned on, but when you look down the view finder there is no problem. Seems the double image only happens when the camcorder is in camera mode, but not in playback! Other than that the camcorder performs perfectly and is in near perfect condition
hey man, a big question here about the 120e, what happens if the ribbon or flex cable ( awm 2896 something ) if that's what they call em, was broken or cut? or the pins got broken or lifted? (referring to the white cable you unplugged at 8:11) because mine wouldn't turn on. and im not sure if that could be the only reason why it wont turn on. there's power but it doesn't turn on, light up or even make the startup sound
Hey ive also got a broken hi8 vcr with a cracked gear but other stuff might be ok would you want it for parts to. I think the head is still good and motors.
Hello. Thanks for your great Digital 8 and other repair how to's - they are great.
I have taken my Sony VTR 310E (its a PAL as I'm in Australia) and I am trying to fix the VTR / Camera / Off switch. This is not the switch at the back of the camera - its the one near the barrel. It has a button which clicks in and locks the switch. The button seems stuck. I have the camera apart, have sprayed the switch with some ISO acohol, but its still very stuck. Inside it is white flat plastic, which connects to a switch somehow. There are small plastic tabs on the inside - I am afraid to "pluck" them open, as I fear they may be brittle and hence snap. Any advise? I may just leave the camera on VTR - which seems the safe way to go. But with the camera apart ( I am going to clean the connections to the main motherboard) I would like to fix that sliding switch at the same time. Any help would be appreciated! And thanks again.
